Stop at the small town of #Willebroek in the #Flemish region during my 90 km bike ride. A nice small home fronting a canal with boats. Next time, I need to stay longer to explore more of this place.

Update seven weeks after my surgery.

I got my check-up with my surgeon. The bone is fully recovered. All my pain and discomfort are only muscular. So I need to keep doing my reeducation exercises.

I have small osteoporosis due to lack of sun and my vegetarian diet since 2010. So vitamin D supplements, and I will get a check-up next summer.

Now it is confirmed, I'm a titanium cyborg.

Update six weeks after my surgery

After 2 weeks back to swimming, I was able to reach 1000 meters today. I didn’t use my cane for the experiment 🥳

Enjoying my sunbath now, after the efforts 😎

Next week I have a plan to do 30 km on my road bike.

Update four weeks after my surgery

Last week, I started swimming: 500 meters of swimming, 1 km of walking with a cane, and climbing and descending 12 floors without a cane. Is this a new sport combined with the Olympic or Paralympic Games? ☺️

After, I was walking better without a cane in my apartment. I will do it multiple times a week!

I’m surprised at how quickly my recovery is progressing, especially with less than 10% of the prescribed opioids.

The opioid crisis and this document really scare me. In the first week after my accident, I quickly decided it was better to stay connected to my body.

I believe it was a good decision ❤️‍🩹

Update 24 days after my surgery

This is my first short ride on my commute bicycle with my can attached (just in case). The only challenge is climbing my recovery leg over the bike at the start and end.

Just 10 km because I’m reasonable, now :-)

Last week, I began doing yoga with Jessica on Fitness+. For now, I’m doing a 10-minute slow flow, and I listen to my body’s needs.

I extended my walk to 5 km on Sunday, still slow. I can go up and down the 9 floors of my condo without my cane!

Hoping to start stationary indoor bicycle this week.

First strength workout with Fitness+ after my fractured femur due to a bike accident

I sit in a chair to avoid putting too much weight on my fractured leg. I started with 10 minutes today.

This type of exercise will benefit both the body and the mind. Happiness can be small things!

Update one week after my surgery.

Yesterday, I was able to switch from crutches to a cane in my apartment. It’s a game changer for moving faster and carrying some stuff!

Today was my first time out of my apartment to have lunch with my daughter. Taking an Uber to go and walking a part for the return, I did 1000 meters!

We need to enjoy our small victories :-)

So I was quiet after my 200 km ride because it stopped after falling at 161 km while changing direction on gravel on the road. It was impossible to stand up due to extreme pain in my left leg. I called 911, and the ambulance picked me up.

After the X-ray, I received confirmation of a broken femur. I had surgery yesterday. This morning, I was able to stand with the help of two people.
