In my Etsy & Kofi shops (links in profile): What seemed at first a quirky combo of transparent purple and peach turned out well. I rolled the beads while white hot in powdered mica for extra sparkle. This 20 inch necklace is finally finished. Inspired by Hellenistic era apotropaic eye beads, but with a selection of more transparent colors than one would find on ancient examples. Yesterday our Saturday market became a Sunday mini-market, as Saturday was the Veteran's Day parade. Just 3 blocks long, instead of our usual 6. It was chilly, but with glorious sunshine. When a customer is deciding whether to buy a piece, I suggest they take it into the sunshine. That usually clinches the sale. Something new in both my Etsy shop and Ko-fi shop. I used earth tones on these opaque beads, rolling them on a corrugated metal surface while they were red hot, creating the spiral surface texture. I mentioned in a post last week that I had some big news to share. Here it is: I'm moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and will permanently reside there. Las Cruces has a thriving arts scene and art markets, and will allow me to earn good income from my work while in retirement. There may be a pause for a while as I get settled. I used canes of green, rose and blue glass with encased strands of opaque white to make the beads for this 18-inch necklace. The white strands give the beads a sense of movement. The colors suggest the holidays, but this could be worn anytime.
