I'm still wrestling a bit with your .deb package on Debian 14 (Forky), not a clean install without complaints but #Gossip itself runs flawlessly regardless, and it's blindingly faster than any other desktop client I've tested so far.

A #Debian style repo maintained by the Gossip team itself would really be nice too instead of manually checking for a newly dropped .deb file.

It's pretty enough for me right now, and quite complete, except that #wallet is noticable in it's absence - is that on the roadmap? Amethyst desktop is all in on Tor by default out of the box. Your plans there? Honestly though Gossip looks waaaay better on desktop than #Amethyst, and I had to settle on using an #AppImage for that

Alex has added #Monero (XMR) support in #Ditto in the past few days too. I haven't started testing that yet but will do so shortly - BTW, Monero support in Mitra enjoys native integration 👋🤠

tl;dr: After only recently discovering Gossip last week I'm thoroughly elated. There's no law that says #nostr clients have to be married to #BTC or #Lightning.

Perhaps next on the horizon for many nostr clients is a #bridging feature similar to capabilities pioneered by #Mostr effectively removing perceived demarcations with the #Fediverse?

Tras meses de travesía, llega «El marinero de siete vidas»

Según la RAE, memorable, significa digno de ser recordado. Eso es lo que cuenta mi nuevo libro, una aventura digna de ser recordada.

Hace años me topé con la extraordinaria historia de Simón del Amethyst, un pequeño gato callejero que sobrevivía a duras penas en los muelles de Hong Kong y terminó convertido en marinero de la Royal Navy. De ahí que el minino participara en uno de los episodios navales más extraños y peligrosos del siglo XX.

Desde entonces supe que algún día la convertiría en novela.

Hoy me alegra anunciar que El marinero de siete vidas ya está publicada en Amazon en formato electrónico (ebook) y en formato papel tapa blanda y tapa dura (ENLACE AQUÍ. o pinchando en la imagen).

Basada en hechos reales, la novela recrea el célebre incidente del Yangtsé de 1949, cuando el HMS Amethyst quedó atrapado en plena guerra civil china bajo fuego comunista, aislado durante meses en un río hostil y convertido en símbolo de resistencia para toda Gran Bretaña.

Pero esta no es solo una historia de barcos, combate y supervivencia.

También es la historia de un gato.

Un animal pequeño, callejero y aparentemente insignificante que, poco a poco, terminó convirtiéndose en compañero inseparable de oficiales, suboficiales y marineros; en azote de ratas; en guardián de la moral de la tripulación y, a la postre, en una auténtica leyenda naval.

Quienes ya conocen mis libros saben que siempre me ha interesado el lado humano de la historia. Las personas detrás de los uniformes. Las emociones ocultas bajo los grandes acontecimientos. Y precisamente por eso esta novela terminó siendo tan especial para mí, ya que entre cañonazos, guardias nocturnas, camaradería marinera y largas semanas de incertidumbre, afloró una historia profundamente humana… ¡aunque su protagonista tuviera cuatro patas!

Además, esta novela me permitió explorar un escenario histórico apasionante, el mundo naval británico de posguerra, unos años en los que el viejo Imperio aún surcaba los mares, pero que intuía que el mundo estaba cambiando para siempre.

Espero que disfrutes esta nueva travesía literaria tanto como yo disfruté escribiéndola.

Y espero, sobre todo, que Simón consiga contigo lo mismo que logró con la dotación del Amethyst: acompañar, emocionar y arrancar alguna sonrisa incluso en mitad de la tormenta.

Lots of these I photographed in Tucson this last week! This large geode about 30” wide and 34” tall was displayed clasped in a tall brass standing display about 5’ off the floor. Anyone could walk up. From the TCC showcase yesterday, edited to share only the geode “heart”, 2 versions. I even made phone stickers of these that work with text messages. #Heart #ValentinesDay

Rocking out again. I worked myself into a purple haze this morning staring at all the amethyst and grape chalcedony photos I got, mostly at the Marcus Budil gallery at Tucson Gem & Mineral show venues at Mineral City. I edit them to appear as I saw them, I think “true to life”.

Here are a few and a lot will just go into my Flickr album so @theropologist doesn’t get rattled by a heavy load on the beige party server! Reminds me I want to pass on another donation to the server funds—recommending donations go to support your own servers!
