I used canes of green, rose and blue glass with encased strands of opaque white to make the beads for this 18-inch necklace. The white strands give the beads a sense of movement. The colors suggest the holidays, but this could be worn anytime. I've used a transparent smoke colored glass to make these beads, along with champagne and white overlaid with dark purple that appears black in all but bright natural light, and some opaque earth tones. Another pair of earrings today. I made these beads from a couple of different shades of blue glass enhanced with blue enamel and blue frit. The resulting contrasts and swirls are very pleasing, looking very oceanic. Because of the layering and depth, they look quite different in various types of light. An experiment that I think was successful: Trying to mimic the appearance of an old mirror losing its silvered surface.
