I've used a transparent smoke colored glass to make these beads, along with champagne and white overlaid with dark purple that appears black in all but bright natural light, and some opaque earth tones. Baking soda can be used to create a texture to glass beads or other glass objects. Far left, the only effect is blending of two colors around the equator of the bead, which retains it's shine. Further right, the blending is more thorough, with a "metallic" surface appearance. Something new in my Etsy shop. I used 3 types of blue to make the beads for this piece: both dark and light opaque marbled blue and transparent electric blue. It may never be pretty, but it's functional. I'm up and running in my new studio, the old metal-roofed cinder block building on the property. I've run power 150 feet to the structure, cleared it of debris, etc. and am set up with a hot head. This was a fun piece to make, using off-white / cream colored opaque and bright white opaque glass to make the beads. These were rolled in a range of different frit mixtures, resulting in really satisfying color combinations that pop upon close inspection. I used simple clear glass to make these beads, rolling them in colored enamel powders while red-hot, then encasing them in another layer of clear glass.
