In my Etsy & Kofi shops (links in profile): What seemed at first a quirky combo of transparent purple and peach turned out well. I rolled the beads while white hot in powdered mica for extra sparkle. For this new 20-inch necklace, I used 3 different shades of transparent blue glass, covering each in a thin layer of powdered blue enamel while the glass was white-hot. The focal pendant features a thin sheet of 24-carat gold leaf. A bit of improvisation. My larger earrings get in the way on my displays for the Saturday Market. So I salvaged the light bulb cover from a shed at the back of the house (the fixture no longer has power), and took a grinder to it. With the old paint and rust removed, it's all shiny, and makes a fun little display for larger earrings. I've used a transparent smoke colored glass to make these beads, along with champagne and white overlaid with dark purple that appears black in all but bright natural light, and some opaque earth tones. Baking soda can be used to create a texture to glass beads or other glass objects. Far left, the only effect is blending of two colors around the equator of the bead, which retains it's shine. Further right, the blending is more thorough, with a "metallic" surface appearance. This was a fun piece to make, using off-white / cream colored opaque and bright white opaque glass to make the beads. These were rolled in a range of different frit mixtures, resulting in really satisfying color combinations that pop upon close inspection.
