Baking soda can be used to create a texture to glass beads or other glass objects. Far left, the only effect is blending of two colors around the equator of the bead, which retains it's shine. Further right, the blending is more thorough, with a "metallic" surface appearance. A new piece I've made using transparent light rose, clear, and light yellow glass, over which I've applied enamels in pale pink, orange, beige and yellow. Today I'm assembling components for earrings. This time I'm using pairs of very small lampwork beads I made at the torch, in colors that complement textured bits of scrap copper and bronze I've cut up for this purpose. We have a blazing (pun intended because the air is full of smoke from fires) heatwave here in the PNW, so this little piece seems appropriate.
