THE END OF SOMEWHERE ELSE
There are lives built around striving, escape, improvement, and the hope that somewhere else will finally feel right.
And there are lives in which very little is required.
The work is simple.
Breathe.
Write.
Care for the house.
Care for the people and creatures who share it.
Let other adults live their own lives.
Keep warm in winter.
Pay attention to what is already enough.
“I need do nothing” does not mean neglect.
It means life no longer has to be forced.
Things are cared for.
Responsibilities are shared.
No one needs rescuing.
No future needs arranging.
And home is not a place to escape from.
It is the place where escape is no longer necessary.
