+ I'm on annual leave for the rest of the week and it's amazing to have the break after a very busy time at work lately
+ had a really good chat with a friend yesterday arvo who helped me feel better about things (world things, life things, grief things)
+ I accompanied Dad to an appointment and drove him home afterwards, and he reminded me to harvest some of the salad greens we planted a few months ago and OMG FRIENDS the bounty!!

Ah, the end of the weekend. It was busy but OK. And I have some leave this week so my next weekend will start in two days (my colleague will be back, huzzah!)
Dad is out of hospital, yay! I picked him up yesterday morning and then went back in the afternoon to drop off some more stuff and again this morning to make sure he was fine showering. He's feeling much better and honestly looks better and much more well rested for having been looked after by someone else(s) for a week.
Even though there was a LOT of driving yesterday, I got to sit down with a book and a pastry and tea for a little while. And then when I got back from Dad's in the afternoon, I discovered someone had left a huge bag of German books on the doorstep! They were obviously for me but it was a mystery until this morning who had left them (one of 2's old work colleagues). I'm thrilled with them β they're in great condition and they'll be ones I can read without too much difficulty.
We got a card from Jarrah's vet and even though I was expecting it and appreciated it, it still made me cry. When I'm on holidays this week I'll be able to plant the seeds on his grave.
I have been craving lemon delicious so I found a recipe for a gluten free one and made it this afternoon. It was indeed delicious. It does bother me how devoid of nutrients gf flour is though. But until I get around to making my own, I'm stuck with it. And in this case, it's a dessert, so I should just accept that it's going to be sugar and not a whole lot of goodness. I added some cream to up the protein but of course that gave me indigestion, heh

I think there is more *media* here than actual social progress / socialising and that's why it can be the same media fatigue / bad news loop over and over. We are not yet developed as a positive dynamic as "social".
#Mastodon = lot of good stuff but is still 1-way / non-deep, this fails social.

I do not feel recharged by the weekend, even though it was overwhelmingly a good weekend
The good:
+ had a wonderful conversation with a new person at the community garden about science fiction, different knowledges, history and politics
+ excellent homemade pizza last night
+ some cuddles with all the animals
+ roasted cauliflower in preparation for soup (which I didn't make but I can still do that tonight)
+ a band peformance, which went well and it's always great to hang out with my band mates
the less good is that yesterday was far busier than I would have liked, and Dad went to hospital feeling a bit meh on Saturday and ended up declining very rapidly and the team there doesn't really know what is wrong with him. I spoke to the doctor three times yesterday and then went in for a few hours in the late afternoon, and he was sleeping fitfully with some slightly concerning symptoms. I did call them this morning but let's just say the doctor who answered the phone was less than helpful. Perhaps she's just very busy and saving all her energy for the patients. Yes, I'm feeling a bit passive aggressive...

It is increasingly necessary to also to be #bad / copy #AI etc as part of the ways set by the #system itself - including missing options / lack of real care for people and basically all things to cut corners / "save" time and #caring in their own skewed #profit logic.

The things Iβm not proud of? No, too easy.
Iβve known some prideful and boastful people in my life and you know what? I donβt know that any of them were overly interesting people. Or caring and compassionate people. How can you be a caring person if all you talk about is yourself? I think weβre all somewhat guilty of talking about ourselves though. Itβs natural, itβs what we know well, and itβs also a pretty safe topic if youβre not a great conversationalist, but at some point doesnβt the other person, the other half of the conversation sitting over there, become interested in something else?
Wouldnβt conversations be a lot simpler if we all had telepathy and could just read otherβs thoughts instead of talking to them?
I found three old flash drives today and spent some time looking at stuff I had saved. I was surprised to find a folder filled with a bunch of things Iβd written going back to 2010. There was a story Iβd written about my grandfather who died when he was 78-years-old and that was sad. I also found a lot of poems Iβd written and one of them was a poem I wrote on my birthday. I remember sharing it at the time in an online writing group and I remember everyone telling me β very nicely, all of them β how it didnβt make sense and it was confusing and other stuff I didnβt care to read. It made sense to me back then and it still made sense to me today but I can see why it failed. Iβm thinking with some work I can maybe make it make sense to others? Weβll see.
I also found a bunch of pictures on one of the flash drives and that was pretty cool. Iβve really changed a lot in the last 16 years. I wonder what Iβll look like at 78?

If so, you are programmed to be irrationally anxious about 'harm minimisation' and genuine caring - neither of which fit domineering arms selling, exploitative, profiteering, cruelty-pushing agendas.
Veganism is kindness which isn't mere lip service.
Fake kindness and a cruelty-enabling status quo will always frame genuine caring as unfeasible, or a threat'. It is the old rapist tactic of playing 'she was asking for it' etc. Under the radar psychopathy always does it in a very pervasive, drip drip way and attacks the mirror which might reveal its true nature. And what we have are cultures scapegoating kindness while the architects and maintainer of the imbalance expect the empathy they scapegoat whenever they are ill or elderly.
Vegans streamline their shopping choices to be as kind as possible because they detect that those outside their own skin also have nerve endings and emotional responses, including affection and fear.
There is nothing like walking through a supermarket and being immune to so much unhealthy crap they push, knowing exactly what is best to buy. Veganism guides that, so the exploiting profiteers sideline it. What at first seems like limitation sets you free AND takes you off the conveyer belt to mainstreamed negative health outcomes of unaware eating. I know this. I saw it in blood results often.

Sometimes my caring responsibilities feel too much and I snap in frustration over something stupid.
Thatβs followed by guilt and shame at being angry with the person I love most. I hate myself for hurting their feelings. But of course itβs too late when youβve hurt someone.
I wish I could find the way to not feel so trapped, as though Iβm serving a life sentence. I donβt always feel this way but when I do the taste is bitter.My person is funny, sensitive and sweet, and is mystified by my explosive emotions/reactions (Theyβre neurodivergent and not inclined to be loudly expressive like me. Weβre so different.) I so wish I was more easygoing and could let βstuffβ wash over me.
The weird thing is I donβt seem to see it building up and when the flashpoint blows itβs always over something ridiculous.
I wish I could find the way to changeβ¦

Dad's been talking to a local organisation about getting some more help around the house, which would be AMAZING. He said to me, 'I don't want you to think that I'm trying to get rid of you, though!'
I was at pains to reassure him that I definitely have enough* to do, and we can still have a cuppa every week, and I won't be upset if he has someone else take him shopping!
*actually a bit more than enough, thanks, I could do with a bit more free time
