The carp-shaped Koinobori wind socks (also known as satsuki-nobori) are flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no sekku, or Children’s Day each May 5.

Wrapped up one of the final test sequences today to check different software modes. The most fun is the live window, a streaming viewfinder that allows me to command and download pictures onto my phone. It's so handy and convenient - and, indeed, drone like.
One exciting possibility is that multiple users can log on to the kite stream, and take pictures in real time. This enables a kind of public performance aspect, which I think would be engaging.

It is one thing to take a photograph from a kite using a camera, but I like to think it's another to do so with a camera of one's own making! Raspberry Pi with HQ imaging unit, neatly packaged under a picavet rig. Going to swap out the CCTV style lens for a wider angle unit in the next couple of days, and hopefully enjoy even more expansive views...
