  1. Why did we make the UHK compact and split? Because we believe in the power of the home row.

True typing efficiency means your fingers never have to leave the center keys. By bringing the keys and modules to your fingertips, we eliminate unnecessary reaching.

Stay centered, reduce strain, and experience the keyboard the way it was meant to be used. 🧘‍♂️

  2. I just received my new keyboard a Cornix LP Wireless.
It is quite nice and like the #Vial software it uses to configure it.

I bought it because it got a bit annoying to carry the ZSA Voyager to work every day and additionally annoying to set up the cables when I traveling.

So far it works quite well but I miss the tactile switches, I was stupid and didn't check which switches the board came with when I bought it.

  4. #ZSA sent me a new voyager keyboard including switches because the old one had a problem with the 3.5mm socket.

I feel the new switches provide better haptic feedback which I like a lot.

Both the new and the old one use brown switches because I have to use it at the office but the old ones didn't give me any resistance when typing.

  6. Switching to a split keyboard isn’t instant for most people.

But when it does click… it really clicks, and there's no going back. ⌨️✨

What was your experience like? Was it instant comfort or a slow transition?

  8. Wanted to show my Avalanche V4 custom split keyboard. Features blank keycaps, because I can't be bothered to find a proper keycap set with uniform profile and runs QMK.

  9. finally popped dark magician on my keeb 💜. and swapped out switches with some extra sp star magical girls and neapolitan ice creams. i like having my sofle cause i can more easily fill the board with switches and not feel like i need to drop money on a full 100 switches. the two different switches compliment each other nicely, so ive got the magical girls on the main typing rows and the neapolitans around the perimeter

  10. The new displays for my Corne-ish Zen have arrived. I've had it for over three years, and everything is still working great, except for these two sunlight-phobic vampires ⌨️ :neofox_bongo:

Is a split keyboard a good thing?

  16. I made another #ErgoMechKeyboard, taking the ribbon cable idea for my Bivouac34, and the 32-key layout and a 5-way navigation button from my Bivvy16D #SplitKeyboard. This is my Goldilocks32 #MechanicalKeyboard - another diode-free design with a #GraphTheory based sparse scanning matrix astrobeano.blogspot.com/2026/0

  18. When using Blender I’d like to keep my right hand on the pointing device (pen or mouse) and the other on the keyboard.

But I use a steeply tented split keyboard, and a few keys I need regularly are on the right half; with a flat keyboard I’d reach over to the other half, but because of the almost 90° tenting this is difficult and slow.

I think I will try solving this issue by making one key flip the two halves (temporarily).

What do you think, how would you approach this problem?

  20. Hm, maybe I found a successor to the Magic Keyboard.

The Elora looks like exactly what I wanted. This is significantly better for my hands than the Adv360.
I'm playing around with custom QMK, and now I think I know what I want.
The keycaps are a mix of what I have, and a custom set is on the way. #splitkeyboard

  21. @mwichary
Was that Wheatstone #SplitKeyboard a prototype for an upgrade to his beautiful ABC alphabetical telegraph?

Might have given it an “ease of use” chance against Morse’s code

But the need for multiple copper wires in Wheatstone & co’s systems cost more

Depends what features you want. The Dygma boards have great tenting. Glove80 and Advantage360 or things like the Bastard or Cyboard have keywells

Many things can be found in DIY kits or the maker scene.
Kinesis may make the best Microsoft Natural copycat. Goldtouch is perhaps the most affordable entry-level board with above average tenting, but limited split

Moonlander and Dygma can argue with others about who has the easiest or best software

I got used to a $50 Goldtouch board, little knowing that the replacement with features I wanted would be a $500 Dygma

  31. Mixed news on my current #MechanicalKeyboard project - certainly a learning experience 😅

Good news: I have the wired #SplitKeyboard working (currently on #QMK firmware with Vial). Early days but seems comfy.

Mixed news: #ZMK firmware was working last night, but I broke the build somehow while tidying up my changes.

Bad news: it has been 0 days since the last #TRRS cable short circuit issue (a known issue but these remain a default low-tech way of linking two halves of a split keyboard). You get a scary warning on macOS about excessive current drain, and that the USB has been disabled untill removed and reconnected (or rebooted?)

  33. OK they’re portable and flexible to get the most comfortable angles, but a DIY split #ErgoMechKeyboard has it’s downsides!

There’s Bluetooth pairing or janky cables to worry about (TRRS has a short circuit risk), two controllers to solder, trickier firmware, etc.

But what prompted this was the much higher risk of knocking one half off your desk! Only realised today, but when I chipped the corner of my Forager based keyboard this also looks to have broken the tiny #SeeedXiao reset button. That in turn leaves me no easy way to reflash the keyboard when my new #ZMK firmware isn’t working 😱

All in all, a mono body #MechanicalKeyboard with a split layout at a comfy angle seems like a safer bet for me… #SplitKeyboard

  35. Regarding the other unfinished #MechanicalKeyboard on my desk: The TRRS sockets to finish soldering up this #ErgoMechKeyboard should arrive today - but I’ve only just noticed the 3.5mm cable I planned to use that came with my Corne #SplitKeyboard has only theee wires (like a standard headphone jack). This needs four wires for full duplex communication - so another delay waiting on parts 🤦‍♂️

  37. Finally got the 2B art on my Neodox board! The original art is by vovovov pixeljoint.com/pixelart/114046
I converted it to black and white and added back details, took hours because I haven't done pixel art in ages, making something distinct for 128x32 is a good challenge though #splitkeyboard

  39. Regular keyboards are familiar and easy to use, but often push hands inward ⚠️.

Split keyboards separate the halves, for natural arm/wrist alignment and better comfort. Customizable to fit your style.✨

Different needs call for different solutions — UHK is giving you both worlds.

  41. Split Keyboards

When someone offers you a split ergonomic keyboard, it is important to politely, but firmly decline.

Once you get exposed to these keyboards, they will forever spoil traditional rectangular keyboards for you. You will never be the same.

Save yourself! You have been warned!

  42. Got my first today and I’ve started putting the caps on. I bought them separately and I didn’t realize until that moment that a) I have to buy small keycaps for some of the special keys and b) my key chord muscle memory has to change drastically! Also how do you users do C-x on split keyboards? I used to press X with index finger (not touch typist) now I have to do it with ring finger I guess. It’s going to be an adventure.

  44. Split keyboard users - I need your help:

Love my Redox FT Low Profile, but still using a mouse is killing me. I have a zero-g Levus workstation-chair/bed so my keyboard rests on an incline.

What small trackball not requiring me to move my arms [too much] is available as an addon for keyboards like this? Bonus points if I can connect two since I'm fully ambidextrous and already use the mouse with whichever hand.
