#ZSA sent me a new voyager keyboard including switches because the old one had a problem with the 3.5mm socket.

I feel the new switches provide better haptic feedback which I like a lot.

Both the new and the old one use brown switches because I have to use it at the office but the old ones didn't give me any resistance when typing.

I bought my first mechanical keyboard today. It's a Keychron V3 TKL QMK Custom. It's also my first backlit keyboard. I like the tactile feel, the sound, and also the backlight. I have set it up to light only the keys I am pressing. It looks cool.

I'm used typing on Model M buckling springs.

I have a keyboard with Cherry MX Blue that I rarely use because I don't like the keyboard case.

But I like how they both click!

Currently daily driver has Akko Cilantro, which are really nice but I'm not into the "tapdancing on plastic" sound it makes.

I'm now eyeing a new keyboard case, and am looking for an old-school feeling-and-sounding clicky switch. Any recommendations?

I've slowly welcomed modern mechanical keyboards in my collection. Currently typing on a FL·ESPORTS OG87 with their default linear switches.

I'll be swapping those out soon with a more-or-less randomly chosen tactile switch.

Makes me wonder: what do folks do with their unused switches? Keep in the drawer till it becomes e-waste? Swap with other keyboard fanatics?

Looking for some nice linears? I'm up for a trade!

New! Keychron Q3 Pro SE Wireless Mechanical Keyboard: A Review

Whilst looking at the Keychron site I found the Q3 Pro, which is a TKL keyboard that has a wheel and 4 macro keys.

It has been over a year since I bought this board and I have spent many hours typing on it I thought a review was about due for it.

I've got to say, Boardsource.xyz has done right by me.

I have my beloved lily58 back up and running thanks to a replacement pcb/micro-controller. Many thanks to all who gave me troubleshooting pointers. I think it was a defective micro-controller all along.

My digits are confused but happy to be back to column staggered!

Did some "cleaning" today 😃 One nice thing of mechanical keyboards is, that you can take them apart and clean them.

This is an old keyboard that I decommisioned last year. Now it has a new place at the workshop computer in the basement and replaces a nasty rubberdome keyboard.

Are there are modern mechanical keyboards with a wide case?

I mean the ones with a chunky edge of plastic. Today's keyboards all seem to have like 3mm of "edge" around the key. I need something to rest my hand on! I sold my Keychron because it was too wide.

The only keyboard I found was this Vortex "Model M SSK"-lookalike, which has the minimum of casing around the edges.

So I have a mechanical keyboard, a cherry brown one I've been using for like 5+ years every day. For a long time I've been annoyed at the sound it makes, but convinced myself that it didn't make sense to fix because in order to lubricate the switches, I would need to de-solder the switches from the board.

Well as it turns out, that isn't true. If you have a cherry red, brown or blue that is nice but you really want that super smooth feeling of a more premium switch, you can absolutely lubricate it. All I did was depress the switch, put the smallest amount of Super Lube Synthetic Oil on a size 0 brush and then brush the sides of the cherry browns. I repeated this for all the switches.

After a week, it's like a new, much more expensive keyboard. It sounds totally different, more similar to the far more expensive keyboards that my coworkers have. I haven't had any reliability issues and the cost to do it was less than $10. Strongly recommend.

Hey, collective intelligence, help me with a keyboard problem. Want to buy a Windows keyboard with the following:
Split ergonomic layout
Mechanical keys
TRUE backlit keys (all symbols lit up, not just outlined keys)
RGB nice, but not high up the list
Doesn't cost as much as a new PC.

This seems to be like finding a unicorn or bigfoot. Anybody got and suggestions or warnings? Please share.
