  1. The new displays for my Corne-ish Zen have arrived. I've had it for over three years, and everything is still working great, except for these two sunlight-phobic vampires ⌨️ :neofox_bongo:

  11. Ugh, so the Moonlander software (QMK) does have caps word built in. But… using a layer key breaks the word. So, only good if the characters you need are all on the main layout. Or if you want to custom compile the firmware to ignore layer keys.

Of all the things going on, custom compiling firmware for a keyboard is not a thing that I want to add to the pile.

    So close, yet so far…

  14. @bouncinglime @keira_reckons If the X-Bow caught your interest there are lots of hobby level #ErgonomicKeyboards, often with keys in columns for each finger, with stagger (offset for different finger lengths) and/or splayed (rather than parallel). These are generally #MechanicalKeyboard designs where the switches and keycaps can be changed (silent, smooth, clicky, weak/strong springs). Off the shelf look at eg zsa.io/voyager - and for small hands in addition too less keys for less stretching, I would focus on the smaller and tighter spaced low profile “choc” keys.

  19. I've got to say, Boardsource.xyz has done right by me.

I have my beloved lily58 back up and running thanks to a replacement pcb/micro-controller. Many thanks to all who gave me troubleshooting pointers. I think it was a defective micro-controller all along.

My digits are confused but happy to be back to column staggered!

  30. #splitkeyboard #ErgonomicKeyboards and #mechanicalkeyboard enthusiasts. I tore the usb port out of the Arduino of my redox keyboard.

I don't have the time to resolder and/or rebuild. What would you recommend and specifically any stores I can buy preassembled ones. Must be split, must be full-ish l. Looking at zsa.io/moonlander but not convinced about the wrist wrests

  32. This is a #MechanicalKeyboards #XMPP channel I've been running for a while. We also love #ErgonomicKeyboards, #mice, #trackballs, #cyberpunk, #cyberdecks, and #AugmentedReality!

If you are new to Jabber/XMPP, you can install Quicksy (libre software) from the Play Store, App Store, or F-Droid, then open that link.

Or you can check out the "Quick and Easy Guide to XMPP" for more information and other options -

  37. OK, my Corne is now ready for some tinkering with QMK 😸 I really love the Cherry MX Grey switched I put in there 😻
And my Cantor finally got a nice case.

I guess I'll now have some boards to bring to #Mechanicon next year.

Well, until then I might have more than two to bring along 😹 (although these are pretty basic ones)

  40. Finally assembled my Cantor keyboard which is now ready for firmware flashing :yayblob:
Took me about two hours of soldering time - mainly because I misangled one of the controller sockets.

Now I wanna code some neo inspired firmware into it to make my life easier - and hopefully that of anyone else trying to use my computer much harder 😹

The next project might be a fully lighted Corne keyboard

  43. @luke
I just got the old/new Cinema Display and it’s really nice to stretch out on projects like this for the first time

I don’t have too little space to see everything. It’s neat

The thing runs hot though. I can feel it in the room with me and want to turn it off whenever I don’t need it

    Looks fancy though

I spent an inordinate amount of time and money in the last few years learning about #ErgonomicKeyboards as I developed a hand tremor and got so I couldn’t type at all on a normal one
