  1. My new keeb arrived yesterday. I've had to fiddle around with the key layout a bit (it wanted backspace to be on the right hand under M key) and a few others, but I'll get it working.

Vial.rocks doesn't seem to want to work, but the app does. Its less intuitive than ZSA's Oryx, but I'm sure I'll work it out. Need to get used to no tenting though 😬

  6. I've been a little naughty and gone and got myself a new Keyboard. I'll soon be the owner of a Lily58 with Choc lowprokb ambiant twilights with a carry case.

I wanted a ZSA Voyager, but didn't want to pay twice (once for purchase, second for import) and the Lilly seemed a good compromise (and cheaper).

Just a little nervous about tenting, but I'll give it a go.

  12. @ctietze I have an ergodox keyboard from where I use home row modifiers.... Whenever I type on my laptop the first few minutes I hold 'l' and expect it to be a shift key

  13. I just send an email to #ZSA complaining about Oryx, the worse decision they ever made. I’m replicating that message here in this thread.

  14. I've been happily using a Moonlander for a while now, with a Voyager sitting in my closet. I bought the former because I couldn't quite make the latter work for me; I struggled to put together a layout that I was happy with.

But the Moonlander has more keys than I'd ever practically make us of. So I dusted off the Voyager and decided to give it another try. And I think I've found a solution to the layout problem I was facing before! It's not perfect, and I'll probably continue iterating on it, but I'm glad I was able to solve the initial problem that made me seek out a replacement keyboard.

tl;dr I wish the Voyager had three keys on the thumb clusters instead of two. 😅

  15. Jury is still out on whether I can get used to the #ZSA #Voyager keyboard, but one thing is already clear: their software is great, and their customer support is absolutely fantastic.

  16. @molly0xfff VERY swank!

    I love my #ZSA #Moonlander #keyboard!

I still find myself occasionally wondering where a particular obscure key went (Where the heck IS PrntScrn anyway?) but that's a tiny price to pay for the overall huge productivity boost!

  17. Hi there! I'm looking for a #ergodoxez or #moonlander #keyboard from #zsa to buy second hand.

If you have to much #mechanicalkeyboard I can help you to reduce by one the number. :blobcatcoffee: ;)

For the context, I started to type with #bepo and more recently with the #ergol layout on laptop. And now I want to try an #orthogonalkeyboard

Let me know if your interested, and if you know a 'second hand keyboard shop' too.

    #boostswelcome 😊😊

  19. I switched back and forth between my old low profile very cheap non #mechanical #keyboard and my #keebio iris rev7 mechanical keyboard. Today I got my #Nuphy Air75 v3 and I am very happy too with it. The Nuphy has low profile mechanical switches and the iris normal cherry mx switches. I use linear red ones in both of them and I am very happy with them but now I am not sure to stick at my iris split keyboard or switch to another split with low profile mechanical switches like the #ZSA #Voyager or the Keebio Iris CE. Don't know which fit's better for me. I think I have to test them the next months.

  20. More reasons to have a split keyboard: can have a gongfu tea session comfortably.

  21. #zsavoyager #zsa this keyboard is getting less lightweight with the trackball but it’s still very much transportable (you don’t *have* to take the trackball everywhere either).

I’m really enjoying that trackball. After using various dedicated brands for years, ZSA’s actually very good and there’re lots of “buttons” on that trackball. 😄

  22. I really like my #ZSA #voyager #Navigator but ran into issues where the mouse mode would 'stick' -- read rousette.org.uk/archives/zsa-n and learned about a new option to disable the track ball/mouse layer whenever a key that s not bound on that layer is pressed.

Works like a charm. Immediate feedback, no waiting needed.

  23. d'ailleurs la team #ergol, vous auriez un système de tenting compatible avec un clavier #voyager de #zsa mais qui ne coûterait pas le prix d'un lingot d'or ?
    merci !

  24. I'm selling my ZSA Voyager. UK only. £200. Let me know if youre interested.

  25. I tried to have the trackball and mouse keys on the same half of the keyboard, but that didn't work well. The #ZSA #vogager and #navigator default to have the mouse keys on the opposite hand reduces accidental mouse movement a lot and avoids weird finger gymnastics

  26. I can type almost all day on my cute zsa voyager, but if I spend 3-4 hours on a regular keeb (like a regular non-split qwerty, or a laptop), I just hurt myself.

I guess that's why they call these *ergonomic* keyboards: they hurt your human body parts a lot less. :)

A few more years, and I'll be forced to use a vertical mouse and a tenting kit. 😏

  27. ZSA Navigator just arrived. I like ZSA keyboards, but I am very much unsure about this one thingy.

  28. @[email protected] #ZSA is great and their newsletter is one of a handful that I actually read.
Would love to have the same attachment for my
    #Moonlander!!
    Still have to use an
#ElecomHuge #Trackball between the Moonlander halves.
Ergonomically it's the best setup I've had, but not having to take my right hand of the keyboard would be neat!

  30. It’s here, The Navigator 🤩 Ball is a bit smaller and lighter than the Ploopy Nano, very smooth rolling and totally silent 👌 #zsa #trackball

  31. #ZSA, which makes #Ergodox EZ, is leaving money on the table. I have EZ, and I've been looking for a few years now a new keyboard, but it must be wireless. I already had a Microsoft Sculpt wireless ~2013-2017, which worked fine. I wanted Ergodox EZ in 2017, but now I've been looking for a wireless version.

ZSA has these explanations why cables, but I just don't buy those explanations because I had a wireless keyboard before 2017, and it worked. zsa.io/wireless

  32. It takes time and I’m still so damn slow but I can feel a substantial improvement in typing speed and accuracy after 3 days. And on the way I’m learning to use 10 fingers for typing and hell of a lot of shortcuts. #keyboard #zsa #moonlander #typing #mechanicalkeyboard #ergokeyboard #ergonomics

  33. Monkeytype seerlite.github.io/monkeytype/ is a good, open source, alternative to #ZSA's type.ing typ.ing/ , but my problem is that both of them focus on sentences of text. Most of what I do is code and restructuring, with lots of copy/cut/paste and modifier keys. So they're not really great practice for what I need most with my #MoonLander.

  34. Are TRRS coiled cables really that expensive to manufacture, or is it a case of "these cables are mostly bought by keyboard geeks who don't hesitate to drop a good amount of cash for this stuff" that makes them overpriced?

If you know of a seller with good quality/price, let me know please! I'm looking for a cable for my Moonlander.

  36. I’m falling down the #splitkeyboard rabbit hole - and wondering how far I go for my first one?

    The #zsa #moonlander or the #glove80?

Or do I go all out and build a kit? (Probs not, as I’m not practical 😂)

For context, I’ve had back problems for years and RSI is really starting to kick in - even with an active gym routine - still struggle when typing all day.

  37. Anyone got the #ZSA #Moonlander platform?

It's not a looker, but it's really sturdy and easy to adjust.

However, for a neutral, relaxed angle in my arms, I need to move the desk down so far that the desktop touches my legs; couldn't sit there on a normal chair anymore.

I don't recall having unusually long upper arms like an ape, so how do y'all manage?

  38. I've taken the next step on my #AltKeyboardLayout #SplitKeyboard journey where I move from the #Gallium layout to the #Graphite layout. While there is not a huge difference between these two keyboard layouts, the Gallium layout has some punctuation tweaks that might make it easier to type the \( \LaTeX \) code in my lesson handouts.

It was not without some challenges to implement #graphite on my #ZSA #Voyager keyboard though -- I captured some of my journey in this blog article:

    teachmaths.org/20241229_graphi

    #ErgoMechKeyboards #Corne #QMK #Vial

  39. @GeeTee I love my #ZSA #Voyager! I have the #Gallium layout on it now:

    teachmaths.org/20241002_galliu

I was thinking about switching to the #Graphite layout, which is pretty much the same thing except for some punctuation optimisations. To implement them on the ZSA, we need a QMK feature called "Key Overrides". I tried installing a tweaked version of the QMK firmware to enable this feature, but it causes the keyboard to crash the first time I hit any key. I'll get the the bottom of it eventually, but for now I'm pretty happy with Gallium.

BTW, I migrated my blog from #Wordpress to #Emacs #OrgMode. All the articles came across ok, but it has broken the old links, and it might take Google a little while to learn what the new links are.
