With that wild Buzzo-like hair of his, El Rabbanito has been burning up #RegionalMexicanMusic charts as of late, albeit with songs bragging about the same old shit everyone else yammers on about: money, fame, luxury goods etc. But this cover of a song originally recorded by #EdiciónEspecial in 2021 is a little different. It charts the rise of a Los Angeles-born cholo who is forced south of the border down to Sinaloa, where he finds big success in the illegal drug trade. Yes it's pure fantasy. But this idea - that poor, non-white folk gotta flee the US to better their lives - speaks volumes about where we are at right now.
