This keeb is better than most so-called “ergonomic” keyboard, but it’s still ridiculously expensive (280$).
There are a lot of good open-source keebs out there, that you can buy or build for a fraction of that amount: #Quacken, #Corne, #Totem, #Planck, #Atreus

  8. @BonfireAtNight you might consider custom #mechanicalkeyboards with #ZMK or #QMK now :)

I've been using CAPsLock for layout switch for ages on my #WASD keyboards; now as I moved to custom mechanical keyboards; #ZSAPlank -> #BlankSlate -> #Corne ; mapped bottom left key(third layer key on first two and shift on corne) to do it on tap as well.
Though as now moving to #homerow, thinking I can utilize that key for something else :)

P.S. check CAPs_Word on ZMK or QMK :)

  9. I've taken the next step on my #AltKeyboardLayout #SplitKeyboard journey where I move from the #Gallium layout to the #Graphite layout. While there is not a huge difference between these two keyboard layouts, the Gallium layout has some punctuation tweaks that might make it easier to type the \( \LaTeX \) code in my lesson handouts.

It was not without some challenges to implement #graphite on my #ZSA #Voyager keyboard though -- I captured some of my journey in this blog article:

  14. My split keyboard journey
    --
In January 2025 I got my first split keyboard. After seeing so many Vim/Neovim video content creators use them, I also wanted to try. Now more than a year later, I'm happy to share my experience with it.

  15. New addition to the keyboard family. I didn't get used to low profile keycaps & switches, and a cabled split keyboard turned out surprisingly inconvenient during travel and very vulnerable to feline attacks in my desk.

The new keyboard is a Bluetooth #corne PBC and case from AliExpress (it was way cheaper than the #voyager), my hands aren't that big but it feels good to interface the computer with chonky clacks.

May write a longer text form of this on my blog, or not.

  20. I have been using the #corne split keyboard for about 3 weeks now, after switching from #bepo to #ergol 6 months ago.

I must say that for now, neither changes has made me more productive. I keep making typos, stop and think hard to type numbers... not exactly the improvement I desired to see.

I am going to give this thing a little more time, but it is not looking good so far.

    Cela dit :
    1. sans dactylo stricte, *aucun* clavier ergonomique n’a le moindre intérêt ;
    2. un #Ferris est utilisable avec #QwertyLafayette ou #Ergol, mais requiert la maitrise des homerow-mods (HRM). Un #Corne ou un #Atreus serait plus simple. On prépare un clavier dans cet esprit (#Quacken).

  22. @kyva ¡Buen fichaje!

  28. Dear #Mechanicalkeyboards community,

    I’m looking for a case for a wireless #Corne V3.
    - minimalistic
    - Cherry MX style switches
    - 3DPrintable or cheap to buy

    What do you use?

  29. Spent the last 3 days building a CRKBD Corne split keyboard! The first day was just spent soldering all the components together. To no surprise, not a single component worked on the first try. But since 5 hours had been spent, I decided to solve the issues the next day, redoing most of the joins until every single component worked. Today was just tweaking the layout, flashing the MCU and actually assembling the keyboard. The entirety of the keyboard cost about 46€ in parts from Taobao. The soldering kit cost 15€ from Aliexpress.

  30. OK, my Corne is now ready for some tinkering with QMK 😸 I really love the Cherry MX Grey switched I put in there 😻
And my Cantor finally got a nice case.

I guess I'll now have some boards to bring to #Mechanicon next year.

Well, until then I might have more than two to bring along 😹 (although these are pretty basic ones)

  31. I built a portable corne to bring to the office. My original corne became chunky and heavy after I got an aluminum case so I’m only going to use it on my workstation at home.
The small one only has 36 keys and is wireless.
    #crkbd #corne #keyboard #mechanicalkeyboard

  32. Of course I had to build another keyboard!

This is a super sturdy, completely hand-wired, ice cream themed corne (crkbd) with cherry mx red switches. I also designed the case to sandwich together so it can easily be thrown into my backpack.

  35. Small keyboard layout thoughts:

Several months back I moved to a Corne keyboard (github.com/foostan/crkbd), a split 40% keyboard. But I couldn't find a layout that suited so I want to share my thinking in case it helps anyone else.

First off, here is my final layout.

  37. @dctrud
That one is really expensive. I was considering that when I'm looking for a split keeb. I opt for #corne #crkbd, which I built myself. It's way cheaper that pre-built .

  38. I was away from home for more than 2 weeks. I just took my first typing challenge with my corne keyboard since coming back and I break my PR 💪

  39. @damonism love it! Having moved to my Corne a few months back I'm not sure I could go back to using anything else.

The ability to fully customise the way it works is a real game changer for me

  40. I’ve been tinkering with my keyboard firmware. I started with #miryoku and added a few layers to be able use it to play video games. I also enabled the oled screens and the leds #SplitKeyboard #corne #crkbd #qmk #ErgonomicKeyboard github.com/benoitlouy/qmk_firm

  41. I still micro-optimize my wireless low profile corne keyboard collection by adding a shiny new lowprokb corne-ish zen 3. #wireless #mechanicalkeyboard #corne #lowprofile

  42. @arnelson to be fair it's not required nowadays to have that much space or wait for a workstation setup.
I simply got #pinecilv2 - (usb-c solder) from @PINE64, and together with good tip like bc2 (much easier to use) and some good solder wire like #kester to assemble my first mechanical keyboard.
Soldered few #pmw3360 since then as well :)
#omnifixo makes it even easier (but not required)

My whole setup squeezed between two #corne halves:

  43. @benjaminhollon I had used #Corne and #sofle #mechanicalkeyboard s a lot, but sold them in the end. Currently I'm a #planck sized 40% keyboard user, but the split keyboard I liked most was #Ergotravel .

    Maybe you'd like it.

  44. Some #MechanicalKeyboard fans are celebrating the 40th day of year with #40sDay and photos of their keyboards that are 40% or less the size of a full size keeb.

Here’s my Unicorne by Boardsource and a custom cable by MechCables. Each half of the keyboard includes a joystick.

The keyboard layout is described here: mark.stosberg.com/markstos-cor
