OK, I am totally flashed by the #keychron #napepro #trackball. They really thought about stuff. You can use it at all angles. You can change the DPI, the buttons. I am not sure if it replaces my #ploopy, but I am really thrilled.

Not 100% sure on the colors but hey, beats Prototype Gray™! Also ditched the BTUs for good old silicon nitride static bearings, stiction's minimal anyway. Also that button in the ball socket's to hit the Boot on the rp2040 for easier reflashing #trackball #3dprint #3dprinting #qmk

So, we're rocking a brand new trackball after the last one died, one that ran me a whopping $30 from Amazon.
Yeah, its what you'd expect, alright but nothing special. I did have some trouble with it being too sensitive at first, but I just tweaked that in the mouse settings. Not sure if'n its the problem, or the old trackball I was limping along just wasn't moving quickly any more. That and I've been using a cheap mouse for a week or so, so that might've altered what I expect.
Either way, it works, I miss the height adjustability of the Perimice one I had before, but this works. I mean its basically just a generic Chinese mouse flipped upside with a ball and rollers added. Really the only question at this point is how long will it last?

Been dancing around building a trackball for a while but yay, existance! Gonna keep it in Prototype Gray™ while I get used to it.
Specs:
- 55mm ball on 9mm BTU bearings
- 7 buttons w/ Gateron Low Profile Banana tactile switches
- PMW3389 sensor
- RP2040 Zero flashed w/ QMK

Keychron released a trackball mouse. Looks like they see solid market for trackball users.

Bought a #Keychron Nape Pro as my first trackball device. Quite interesting, I still have to try different placements and settings. The wheel feels a bit rough but it's okay. The ball though stops sometimes, is there a break-in time or some oil to smoothen it?

My first impressions of the #Ploopy Adept #trackball are very good.

I was able to tune it with a nice balance of speed and accuracy for pointing.
For the six buttons, I besides the left/middle/right mouse buttons, I bound one to "hold to scroll" the trackball.
The other two I bound to copy/paste for single click and browser forward/back for double-click.

Huh, Elecom has released a successor to the Huge trackball and I have somehow missed that. I may need to upgrade my standard version at some point.The new variant is called Huge+ and seems to have upgraded ball bearings and scroll wheel, which according to reviews feels less cheap now.

I love my #Keychron K6 retro style mechanical #keyboard and my #Kensington Expert Mouse (which is a #trackball). In fact I love it so much I've got two of each and have a set for the home office and a set when I'm at clients.
Given these shorter contracts lately, I'm looking for something a little less bulky to drag around, so I'm testing out the #logitech MX Keys Mini chiclet keyboard and the Kensington #Orbit wireless trackball.
Opinions later! 😀

Achei a ideia do #PocketTerm35 da #Waveshare interessante, apesar da ausência de um #trackball, mas a tela de 640x480, apesar de teoricamente adequada, reforça o retrocesso acumulado ao longo de décadas: apesar de todo o blá, blá, blá sobre convergência e dispositivos móveis, a realidade é outra, com desktop environments pesados demais para rodar em SBCs com 1 GB ou 2 GB de RAM (as poucas especificações minimamente acessíveis nos dias de hoje) e, em geral, pouca oferta de software convergente para algo além de relógios, cronômetros e calendários.
O #GNOME, por exemplo, ainda tem problemas para exibir a grade de aplicativos a 720p, caso o scaling seja de 125% ou maior para tornar a leitura mais fácil em tela pequenas (o que, na prática, reduz a resolução) e, em linhas gerais, parece muito pouco testado para cenários do tipo. E, claro, o GNOME não é exatamente o tipo de ambiente gráfico que você vai rodar num dispositivo, seja ARM, seja x86, com 1 GB ou 2 GB de RAM.
Mesmo aplicativos mais antigos e fora dos holofotes, como #Abiword e #Gnumeric realisticamente esperam 800x600 de resolução. É compreensível, mas problemático. Simplesmente não temos quase nada que rode em 640x480.
