Forget “standard layout.” UHK doesn’t really do standard.
You can run it split or not split, fine-tune ergonomics with risers, swap modules, and redesign your thumb clusters around how you actually work—typing, gaming, or living inside macros and shortcuts.
Layer systems on top of that, and the keyboard turns into a fully programmable control surface instead of a fixed input device.

dear fedi, please help
I have my 2 keyboard halves of the beekeeb piantor (non pro) which are just wiring the mechanical switches to the gpios, no matrix
i'm migrating from pi pico to rp2350b-plus-w by waveshare (custom rust firmware which I'm developing)
the board is a breakout board essentially and has a voltage divider for vsense to gp42. that's it
NOW
the left half, is completely fine
the right half though has gone through the following:
- after many flashes, the MCU started looping like crazy on USB, even on boot mode. Enumerated, showed up and insta reboot. probably toast - maybe I did something stupid in the wiring/soldering, no biggie, I have 3 spares
- next spare, all goes good but 1 key starts sticking. it doesnt work when I press it and at some point it gets stuck. all gpios are internally pulled up. I measure it and it gets pulled to around 1.5v. probably toast gpio, no biggie, I have 2 spares
- before I replace the MCU, I grab a new one, flash it and measure all pins and ALL of them get pulled to 3v3, as expected. I put the board on the right half, some time passes, 1 gpio fails and a bit later, another one fails
what the heck is happening??
obligatory AIed and googled to death. I found out about the errata 9 of the 2350 but its not relevant, it has to do with pull downs, not pull ups

My one IRL #mechanicalkeyboards buddy went ahead and designed a truly custom keyboard. It's got gerber files and everything. Respect.
I can't go less than 6x4 keys per hand, but I do love the trackball under the thumb.

I learned touch typing with the website monkeytype.¹
It's a nice website, but it's full of surveillance-capitalism crap, like Google's Firebase. Its developer is a twenty-something five years out of college. He started monkeytype in 2020 while still being in college, so I presume he doesn't know how to achieve his idea in a different way and maybe isn't even aware of the problems that using Google's technology entails.
Users can already be uniquely identified by their typing patterns.²
I am thus sceptic of storing extremely detailed information about my keystroke dynamics (like which letters I misspell the most, which of my fingers are strong and which are weak, how many milliseconds lie between certain bi-grams such as 'th', 'ng', 'he', 'lo', et cetera) in a database on Google's infrastructure.
Knowing Google, they might someday use that information to track me. So I don't want to give it to them in the first place.³ I don't think I'm overly paranoid here.
Has anyone already thought about this?

Been using the Flow Lite 100 for about a day now, coming from a full mechanical keyboard, and apart from the layout being a bit different to what I'm used to, typing on this thing is just insanely nice.
It's this really nice midpoint between a mechanical keyboard and laptop keyboard (both experiences I like in different ways).
One thing I didn't realise I'd appreciate this much is that it's got more of a "creamy" click, which is really nice!

Switching to a split keyboard isn’t instant for most people.
But when it does click… it really clicks, and there's no going back. ⌨️✨
What was your experience like? Was it instant comfort or a slow transition?

Situation: my 10yo kid will begin mid-school in September and wants my #ErgoDash (see picture) for his own computer (that I still have to buy!).
ErgoDash is currently configured with a QWERTY layout, customized with Italian accented letters as per picture.
Should I reconfigure it to Colemak Mod-DH, instead, before giving him the keeb? -
