📱 PINE64 își pune pe pauză producția de noi dispozitive Linux din cauza lipsei globale de memorie DRAM și eMMC!
Compania PINE64, un nume reprezentativ în lumea hardware-ului open-source și al dispozitivelor bazate pe Linux, a anunțat că oprește temporar fabricarea și dezvoltarea de noi dispozitive din cauza penuriei severe de componente de memorie (DRAM și eMMC) de pe piață.
✨ Care sunt motivele și impactul acestei decizii?
📦 Penuria masivă de componente DRAM și eMMC:
• Creșterea uriașă a cererii de cipuri de memorie la nivel mondial și problemele din lanțul de aprovizionare au generat o lipsă acută de stocuri și au crescut exploziv prețurile pentru memoriile RAM și cipurile de stocare eMMC folosite de obicei în plăci Single-Board (SBC) și smartphone-uri.🛑 Sistarea proiectelor noi:
• Pentru a nu genera pierderi financiare majore sau pentru a nu fi nevoiți să vândă produsele la prețuri inaccesibile comunității, PINE64 a luat decizia de a amâna lansarea și producția de noi modele de laptopuri (Pinebook), telefoane (PinePhone) sau plăci de dezvoltare.🏷️ Impactul asupra prețurilor și accesibilității:
• Unul dintre pilonii principali ai proiectului PINE64 a fost întotdeauna oferirea de hardware cu Linux extrem de accesibil ca preț. În condițiile actuale ale pieței de componente, menținerea acestui model de cost a devenit imposibilă pe termen scurt.🔄 Focus pe suport și stocurile existente:
• În această perioadă de pauză de producție, echipa își va concentra resursele pe sprijinirea comunității de software open-source, optimizarea sistemelor de operare existente și livrarea stocurilor rămase din modelele deja fabricate.O veste tristă pentru comunitatea de hardware open-source, ce reflectă din plin instabilitatea actuală din piața semiconductorilor! 🚀

Just discovering the #ZimaBoard who is a « low-cost #SingleBoard #Server exclusively designed for makers and geeks. It has both the expandability of an x86 single-board computer (SBC), and the appropriate power of a micro server »
The solution seems to me to be suited for small structures (Intel Quad Core CPU up to 2.2GHz) and/or for VPN, NAS, server (media or other), router, homelab, etc.
