Evolution is faster with stronger selection, but this may come with a demographic cost. Xu & Osmond characterized conditions when the chance of evolutionary rescue increases with the strength of selection across different scenarios.

#introduction
hei,
finally found my way :)
great to see the #evolution and #ecology community here!
hope to share some of our research taking place at the #UniversityOfHelsinki on #EcoEvolutionaryModelling, #ExperimentalEvolution, #genetics of #adaptation, and #ComputerModelling in #EvolutionaryBiology, with a focus on genetics of #ComplexTraits, #QuantitativeGenetics, and #PopulationGenetics, not forgetting #EcoEvolutionaryDynamics. -
Hi everyone!
I am a Senior Lecturer in #SilwoodPark at #ImperialCollegeLondon. I am interested how social behaviours (#MateChoice, SexualSelection, #sociality) and #LifeHistory traits (#ageing, reproductive traits) evolve in birds. I've also published on #WomenInScience. I use #quantitativegenetics to better understand how #phenotypes are governed by #genetic architecture.
I have too many #pets, I like #hiking, #birding, #moths, and #fungi.
Will follow you back - toot!

#Introduction - I am an #evolutionary #biologist studying the early evolution of #family life and #social life (mainly) in #insects.
The methods I use typically involve #behaviours, #immunity (social immunity), #ecotoxicology (#anthropic effects), and #quantitativegenetics.
My main study system is the #earwig (#Dermaptera), a fantastic but little-known taxon.
I am a very strong defender of #OpenScience
