🧠 New #preprint by Hosseini et al. (2025) from Graziana Gatto’s lab: #AutoGaitA, a #Python toolbox for universal #kinematic analysis of #motor programs across species, perturbations and #behaviours. Flies, mice and humans all show age-dependent loss of propulsive strength 🚶‍♀️A promising tool 💪 for cross-species motor program analysis in my view:

I know #cycling should be a good idea.

A far better idea if we had #roads (and drivers) that made that #safe.

BUT
It'd also be good if #cyclists considered their #behaviours as well.

A #family cycled past my window on the narrow pavement.
I can understand, the roads are narrow, busy & full of holes but being in a #village doesn't remove Rule 64

Their overheard plan was to #cycle through the #woods (walk only paths)
ignoring a great shared #track a few metres away.

There's so much more to it than this. I #worked in a #job where they told you to get up & #walk around #hourly, provided #mentalhealth #people & had #volunteers to #talk to if you were #bullied & more. And just how "optional" is it? Are employees turning up because they'll look bad if everyone else on their team goes and they don't?

A lot of managers are blind to this kind of #silent #pressure on employees. They are completely unaware of the power dynamic between management and employees, and so they misunderstand the #motivations and #behaviours of those employees.
