@argv_minus_one I don't know if it's part of it but in the #promox /etc/network/interfaces it didn't have the dns-server line and I had to add it there and then to the confs. Not sure if a new patch of proxmox changed something? It was just weird overall. lol

@R1Rail : Avec #Promox, certains furieux, genre @fatalerrors, peuvent mettre les trotinnettes en cluster redondant, donc oui, on peut.

Anyone get #zimaos to work on #promox? It kinda seems like a great way to make your own cloud without becoming a Linux Lord.

Had issues with #Promox VM backups to PBS for some weeks now. The backup log did not show anything out of the ordinary, but the VM stopped responding, even after the backup had finished. A VM reset was needed to restore operation.

Tried a lot. In the end it appeared, that a Proxmox node reboot solved the issue. Not sure what the actual issue was, but at least the backups are running again without impact on the VM availability.

One of my four hosts here is on #promox 9 already as I recently installed it. It’s that Xeon 2680v4 box which ironically made the noise less annoying.

MiniPCs are great for low energy consumption, not only because of cost / ecology; it also means they can last when power goes out and it has to run on battery. This is why at the root of my connection there’s one with all essential services that only dies together with the modem.

Though if you start actually using the CPUs a lot (eg processing many video feeds in #Frigate or real time translating #Plex vids) a cheap 2680v4 ends up generating a more constant noise and looks less like it’s going to die next week.

#promox my #debian12 upgrade VM to #debian13 suffured a network interface renaming (#bookworm: enp6s18 got renamed to #trixie: ens18.)
I missed https://www.debian.org/releases/trixie/release-notes/issues.html#network-interface-names-may-change for my qemu q35 type, #virtio VM.

I wanna for some fun retrocomputing run Windows Home Server 2011 on my Proxmox box.
It has an Intel N100 (700MHz base, 3.6GHz turbo) CPU.
Sadly Windows Home Server 2011, when starting the install, does a check if the hardware is supported.
It marks the CPU as unsupported (required: x64, 1.3GHz). Even if I set proxmox to emulate Nehalem or Sandy Bridge it doesn't change. If I enter the setup command prompt with Shift+F10 in the installer and query WMI it reports a CPU frequency of 805MHz for some reason, unchanging even if I run stress on the host.

Anyone have any idea why and what I could do about it? Both in terms of, like, spoofing what Proxmox presents to the guest or how to bypass that check in the installer?

Ca consomme rien comparé aux VM, j'ai pu monter un #redis (#keydb) , un #postgresql et remonter mon instance #synapse (#matrix) et le proco tourne à ... bah 0% en effet.

J'ai envie de souffler très fort tellement j'aurais pu les choses autrement avant ...

Et tout ca avec #IPv6, #HTTPS et tout

Time to play operation on this machine and install Proxmox. Once up and running, I can try adding back the old NVMe, to see if I can access its data volume in an attempt to rescue some VMs there. 🙏

My #Promox server has been having issues of randomly rebooting, multiple times a day, usually after losing connection to the hard drives. I opened the device, a HP Elitedesk 800 G4 DM, and the black/white SATA ribbon connector came loose. One of the golden pins keeping it to the motherboard got loose. I can't put the connector back in place now. Am I screwed? How should I proceed?

J'aimerais que l'OPNSense reçoit les IP et peut-être faire du NAT ou autre vers les VM qui ont pour le moment de l'IPv4 privé
Je me demandais si on pouvait avoir une interface proxmox qui fait que IPv6

Ok I may have killed the boot “drive” which is actually an internal USB drive.. shit .. #promox is hard on drives with lots of writes I guess. Can’t totally blame Promox but I can partially blame it!

I just migrated my #HomeAssistant from a #Raspberry Pi to a Thin Client server (5 watt idle) running #Promox VE virtualization software. The goal was to have a more solid platform, with easy backup and lower energy usage (in total).

The whole installation process was a breeze and restoring the HA backup did go well the first time.

Next up: virtualization of #PiHole

I've replaced my #HomeBridge with #HomeAssistant for my #HomeKit smart home. I have set up a dedicated #Promox server for this and in the process have temporarily retired/freed up two #RaspberryPi.

Quite some research and trial-and-error was necessary, but so far the basics work again and it's a bit faster – and I have more opportunities and control.

My conclusion from this transition: In its current state – even with #Thread and #Matter – an open #SmartHome is still not ready for mainstream.
