Partner and I decided to bring our big rubber boots to our favourite secret* creek and spent the evening exploring it a bit further.
Found a really cool chunk of petrified wood that has coal seams running through it!
* Not really secret just not a super popular spot, but it does have a somewhat delicate ecosystem going on so we're trying not to bring too much attention to it

Got a few new fluorescent mineral pieces for what I've dubbed the "party bowl". It's surprisingly difficult to get a good picture with the UV flashlight. (Also the flashlight tells me everywhere I need to dust. :( )

Le bois pétrifié est une vraie merveille de la Nature ! #PetrifiedForest National Park a une des plus grandes concentrations au monde de cette empreinte minérale de géants d'un autre temps. Le bois devenu pierre prend toutes les couleurs et peut devenir quartz pur. Le plus incroyable est de se dire qu'il était déjà pétrifié quand les T-Rex arpentaient cette Terre !

It's no secret what #DinosaurProvincialPark, #Alberta 🇨🇦 is famous for, but it's the #plants from this #WorldHeritageSite that tell the clearest story about this #Cretaceous #ecosystem. #PetrifiedWood like this, along with other aspects of the park's #geology and #paleontology, paint a picture of a low-lying coastal #wetland, perhaps similar to the #bayous of the modern Gulf Coast.
