I wanted an accurate digital angle device for my Faceting machine. Having it display down to the hundredths would be perfect.
That's all I originally wanted, a digital angle device that displayed to 0.00° and was accurate. Waited almost a full year as the manufacture of my machine kept saying he had something incredible coming soon. Apparently vaporware is all that is coming .
Which would not work for me.
Here is what I created for my own use. It does what was originally desired for the device. 0.00° display, resolution to 0.0109°. And has a targeting and pretargeting function as a bonus . Making settings adjustable sounded nice so was also added.And since maybe others might have similar wants here is everything needed to build one yourself. Everything was released so you can improve it. If you design mounts for other machines send me one and I'll stick it in the repository.

Decided to try faceting an X-cube at an angle. Rather than waste the whole 20x20x20 cube I sawed it at an angle then was able to get 2 stones out of it.'
These came out wild with the x slightly below the girdle. I was able to get even more colors out.. -

If you own a Facetron and a 3d Printer and need an 80 tooth gear for the cost of printing it you are set. Go to thingiverse and search for facetron.
It will bring up a 80 tooth gear someone made. I printed one and used it to print a star out of quartz as a test. Was leery of using my expensive resin laps to prepolish and polish it so a CD with cerium oxide was used to finish it. Alignment was perfect so it would not have dug into a lap.

Wow!!! I like many facetors back the the 1980's bought chunks of the glass used in the Hartford Site Manhattan Project. I have 2 interior pieces left and while very soft it has an RI of 1.94 and excellent dispersion. The bright yellow color though is a turnoff for many. Also 2 pieces of the exterior windows. RI on those is only 1.54 and dispersion is similar to quartz. They were used during the production of the plutonium for the Trinity and Fat Man bombs.
I cut many a test design using it and tossed most of them. Little did I know that stuff would become highly collectable.
