  1. Here’s a short vid of the night view from my back veranda across Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley. My banner image on my bio/profile is the daylight view. #PNW #Oregon #SouthernOregon #NightShot #NightTime

  2. Beautiful afternoon in Southern Oregon’s #RogueValley today. But it is February and it really shouldn’t look like this or be over 60 degrees. For #SouthernOregon this is the winter that wasn’t, and that is concerning. I’m really worried about what summer fire season will bring with our rainfall totals and snow pack well below normal. #Oregon #Winter #Climate

  3. View looking south across Southern Oregon’s #RogueValley this Autumn afternoon. A real change from recent foggy days. Bright, sunny and brisk. Robins are feasting on our Madrone tree berries and making a pleasant racket… #Oregon #PNW #SouthernOregon #CountryLife

  5. We’re getting smoky skies and diminished air quality in Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley - from fires just across the border in N. Calif’s Siskiyou County. I count 12 fires, the largest ones are 0% contained. We’re waiting desperately for the first rains of Fall, which are predicted next week. We’ll see how that goes. #SouthernOregon #Oregon #RogueValley #wildfires #WildfireSmoke #GlobalWarming #ClimateChange

  6. Sitting on my back veranda enjoying the evening lights across the #RogueValley and the crickets singing when two barn owls started talking to each other in nearby trees. Barn owls don’t hoot like Great Horned Owls, they trill, so when they talk to each other it’s quite magical. (See the banner pic on my profile to see the daytime view from my back veranda. At night, the Valley and surrounding hillsides all light up). #PNW #SouthernOregon #Oregon #CountryLife #RuralLife #EnjoyingLife

  11. Hi Fedi Friends! In case any of you have friends or fam in #SouthernOregon, Ashland Zen Center is looking for help with their main fundraising event!

Some of you might know AZC for their farm stand on Tolman Creek (opens for the year on Monday!) or for their other community work.

AZC is a unicorn as a small town, non-monastic, Zen sangha. Items not sold at the yard sale will get donated other local groups.

  20. Abert Rim

    Abert Rim Sunrise
Abert Rim is a spectacular geological feature in Oregon, where a huge block of basalt rock rises more than 2,000 feet above the valley floor. It is the result of ancient volcanic eruptions and faulting that tilted the land. Abert Rim is home to bighorn sheep, raptors, and other wildlife. It is also a popular spot for paragliding and hang gliding, as the cliffs create strong thermals.

  25. I was up early this morning, before sunrise. El Ranchito (aka our hobby farm) was above the clouds filling the #RogueValley looking down. It’s a great look that I love. Treetops penetrating the low-lying clouds looking like small island archipelagos. Just so sweet. Shooting photos is one method I use to deal with chronic issues that might otherwise be preoccupying. #SouthernOregon has a number of beautiful spots, we overlook a very pretty valley and in the distance, the convergence of the Siskiyou and Cascade Mt. ranges (very rare indeed when two mountain ranges join in a summit like we have).

  26. Spent the day foraging for Fall Chanterelles in the forest. Wildcrafting is such a satisfying pastime, and we’ll cook up our almost three pound bounty tonight and freeze most of them for later. They’ll last all winter. Best #mushrooms ever imo. Better than Shiitake or Matsusakis. #Chanterelles are the filet mignon steak of edible fungi, meaty, aromatic and delicious. #WildCrafting #Foraging #ForestBounty #SouthernOregon #Oregon #Fall

  27. Cabernet grapes on the vine on our grape arbor in the deer fenced garden. We made wine for years with our small vineyard, but I no longer drink alcohol and my partner is content to buy from one of our many local wineries. So now, we have just the arbor left and most of that goes to our many birds, including our small flock of chickens. #Garden #GrapesOnTheVine #SouthernOregon #RogueValley

  28. Well, hell… the power is out and the regional power co. says it may not be back on for six hours. Good thing we’d just finished baking the fresh peach pie, AND, our stove is propane powered so dinner is ON. So dinner and pie by candlelight, not so bad. #FridayFeeling #SouthernOregon #PowerOutage #RogueValley #CentralPoint

  29. We’re clipping two or three bundles a day from our Lavender hedge, slowly harvesting to ensure plenty is left for the many bubble bees that hang out on the flowers. So cute, they regularly nap hanging on to a flower. Never, ever been stung and we walk by this hedge multiple times/day. We love our pollinators and keep our garden full of flowers they prefer. The Tansy is next (second pic). The bundles hang upside down against our large kitchen/diner window until dry, then the actual flower bits go into sachets for our linen and my T-shirt drawers. #garden #Gardening #Flowers #Lavender #pollinators #SouthernOregon #RogueValley

  30. A favorite spot in our garden. My partner Lupe’s rock garden, with a cement bench next to the opening into our Lilac hedge. A very special place. Easy to imagine a hobbit or cute furry emerging from the lilacs to rest on the bench. That’s Thyme growing in between the pavers. #garden #gardening #GardenersOfMastodon #rockgarden #Oregon #RogueValley #SouthernOregon

  31. A real nice #CloudScape in a perfect blue sky yesterday in Southern Oregon’s #RogueValley. Been unseasonably chilly and wet the last few days, which is welcome in fire season, but it will return to the high 80’s in a couple of days. This view is from my back porch looking South toward #Ashland over my deer-fenced veg, medicinal herb, fruit (fig) and cut-flower garden. #Oregon #SouthernOregon #JacksonCounty #WestHills #clouds #photo #naturephotography #NatureView #NatureBeauty #Medford #CentralPoint #Jacksonville

  32. My property in #SouthernOregon is located in the West Hills of the Rogue Valley on an East facing hillside, so I see the sunset in the clouds. Been pretty spectacular lately I must say… #Sunset #photo #naturephotography #Oregon #RogueValley

  33. Red Current tree is in full bloom. Lots of small pink-to-red bouquets of flowers, looks fabulous. #flowers #Trees #tree #Blooming #garden #oregon #SouthernOregon #RogueValley

  34. Here’s a pano view of Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley from my back veranda. Easy to see why I spend a lot of time hanging out there. You should see it at night. #Oregon #SouthernOregon #RogueValley #view #outlook
