This is pretty much me after moving my whole life from the Least Coast back to the Left Coast.
Took a lot out of me.
Body / spine destroyed.
But at least they have #Cannabis here.
Been in a lot of pain this past week; helps a lot.

I took Friday off of work and went down to Yachats to watch the waves crash against the rocks. My husband hung out with our 14 year old Aussie and I took our Corgi on the 804 path. We went to Wildcraft Cider, our first time to try it since they took over the Yachats Brewing site. Ciders were tasty, they also have 6 or so Block 15 beers on tap. Too bad we weren’t hungry, the food menu looked delicious. Oh, and we spied the forthcoming Pelican Brewery site under construction. #oregoncoast #beer

Inspired by @thisisraerae and went to Yaquina Head to hike/walk all the ups and downs. It’s an absolutely stunning day, and the lighthouse and tide pool areas were the only crowded spots. I had Communication Hill all to myself. #oregoncoast #newportoregon

I bought myself a birthday present from the Yaquina Art Association gallery. #oregoncoast #newportoregon

August isn’t the month with the lowest tides, but enough sand has washed in that tide pools are often way more accessible. I went north of Yaquina Head yesterday morning, and what usually is either inaccessible or requires quite a scramble on slippery rocks was just a simple step over a rock. There’s a little cave way out that was also accessible. Super cool. #oregoncoast #newportoregon

Today was a good day. A really good day. It’s been a while since I’ve had one of those.

Four of our family of seven went to the Oregon coast. We ventured over a bay to a peninsula, where we’ve never been. And it was the best choice we could have made.

We visited three beaches and a scenic loop. It was SO beautiful. We brought good food with us, and ate it while looking out over the vast ocean.

Oh, and that’s about as close as I’ve been to a family of deer. There were three of them, foraging on the side of the road.

Good times.

GD mover’s truck broke down TWICE between Florida and Oregon. He was supposed to be here Tuesday; now he’s in Portland trying to load all my shit into a U-Haul, to somehow get here later today.
Note the makeshift cup holder; there’s nothing to do here except watch CNBC on my laptop, smoke weed, and day drink.

After moving, found the local NPR station, FTW.
I was confused at first, because the main station was the same frequency as my old one in Florida, 89.7.
But I guess around here, it's 90.5.
So, one more checkbox.

Gawd, I hate that. Somehow slept on Monday's flight, but now I have to do it again on Saturday, and then next Thursday, with two pets.
I can never sleep on planes, too excited.
I always end up at my destination completely wiped out; a Japan trip is 25 hours door to door.

A NNW wind kicked in around noon and the air quality has been improving all afternoon. It’s clearly still smoky, but much better. AQI of about 74 now according to local Purple Air sensor. AirNow shows 156 for Newport, but the reporting station is 10 miles inland in Toledo. Huge difference in climate between the two towns. #orwx #newportoregon #oregoncoast

If I believe my iPhone weather app, Newport has a worse AQI than Portland this morning. It says 153 here, not sure where it’s measured, though a Purple Air map shows one at 134. I should get a sensor, weather is very local here (like by the block), and it’s super hazy, but I don’t smell smoke. The sunrise picture sure shows it though. #orwx #newportoregon #oregoncoast

Ironically, it was all good through the whole airline, TSA, airline managers, then all my travel plans went tits up.

Horrible day, unfortunately.
Deplaned to a msg, mover is broke down in CO. He was supposed to meet me here tomorrow. Now "maybe" W or TH.
WTAF?
My property manager, I've paid for 7 years, failed to deliver my house key as promised, had to wait to get into my own house.
Gas was shut off, didn't even know I had gas, FFS.
Luckily, I got gummies & flower, 7 blocks from my house.

Had planned to go back to Portland this evening, now delaying a few days to wait out the worst of the smoke and heat. There’s a little smoke visible in Newport, but the air quality is still decent so far (45 AQI according to my Apple Watch) Still have a strong N wind blowing. Burnley and I went whale watching today. We started at Boiler Bay, which is a pretty setting for me and had plenty of good smells for Burnley, but no whales. We skipped Depoe Bay because it was too busy, and ended up at Rocky Creek Viewpoint where we saw multiple grey whales. Burnley took me on a walk to Whale Cove, where I’ve (ironically) never seen a whale, but it’s a pretty view. #oregoncoast

I went on a guided hike in the Yakona Nature Preserve yesterday. I had never heard of this place, but saw the event posted and am glad I signed up. It serves as both a preserve, learning center, and arts center, but is closed to the public except for events or prearranged access. The guide shared history of the land, the native people in Oregon and the northwest, and flora and fauna. It rained for almost the whole hike, then the sun came out at the end. #newportoregon #oregoncoast
