Big winds overnight #flattened my #OxHeartTomato.
It now looks a little like an #organic #meccano set, with bamboo stakes of various sizes keeping it upright.
AND - finally, it is producing more #fruit!
The 3 #tomatoes previous to these 5 new ones, are still growing very slowly.
I’m tempted to take the larger ones off & let them ripen inside.
Yesterday, white moths were taking an interest in my#OxHeart.

Being a long time proponent of #Meccano and the #3Dprinter, I have combined the two again (the first RepRap prototypes were largely made from Meccano). I've made a similar thing that is printable, uses M3 fasteners, and has metric hole spacing. I'm calling it "Metriccano" and it's GPL'd. A bit untidy at present but happy to share the #OpenSCAD source with interested parties.

Had a properly successful session on the EU feld hell net this week with the #Meccano #hellschreiber
My new tone generator circuit using the VCO of a 74HC7046 makes a much better signal than my original, largely unfiltered, 555 oscillator lashup, and the group commented how my characters look much better now that I've stretched my pulses a little.Alas new problems are appearing as the machine starts to wear out from too much use! 😆
The elastic is getting very soft so keys are not always returning properly, and the ever present character drum corrosion issue has been joined by "kapton tape starting to fall off itis".
I was expecting that from the very beginning though, and surprised it held up as well as it has. A few repair patches made with nail varnish last week seem to be working OK, so I will probably go through and use that everywhere bits are starting to peel/falling off. -

Found this monster head at a thrift shop. (No body with it or anything.) Decided to make it my mascot for my #Gasslands arena, turning it into a #burningman style installation.
(Using #meccano and #jenga blocks from a previous thrift trip, popsicle sticks, a caffeine bottle, an old socket, a length of cable, and lots of #hotglue)

I've taken a break from working on the solar tracker because I'm still awaiting mechanical parts from China. Those are promised for March 28th but I have little faith in eBay promised delivery dates.
Really what I need is a good set of Meccano with lots of gears but that's very expensive stuff. Better that I get the axels and cogs from China. Being nylon, the cogs are self lubricating.
Meanwhile I'm building a garden shed and making it into a series of YouTube shorts. Shorts always seem to go down well.
Right now I'm dubious about doing more on the shed as my back was just awful last night. I had a back injury at work a year ago that laid me up for 3 months. I think if I really went at it today, I might complete that shed though. - even if I have to rush to buy more lumber.
