L'abbaye de Jedburgh a de beaux restes aussi. En plus, il y avait une chasse aux Legos pour les enfants (la deuxième du séjour - la première c'était au musée de l'armée au château de Stirling). Résultat, on a pu les voir faire deux ou trois fois le tour de l'abbaye alors qu'au départ, ils traînaient des pieds 😬

Petite ambiance médiévale avec la visite du château de Doune qu'on peut voir dans Sacré Graal, Game of Thrones et Outlander. C'était chouette comme visite, sachant que l'audioguide est raconté par les acteurs avec des anecdotes de tournage en plus.

Sur la route vers le sud, on a aperçu de loin le Keiss Castle. Comme il avait l'air très joli, on s'est approché. Bien nous en a pris. Une jolie balade au milieu des moutons pour aller voir de plus près ces ruines qui résistent encore au vent. En plus, un groupe de cinq phoques nageaient dans l'anse dont un se prélassait en mode banane à marée basse.

Pour changer des photos, je renoue un peu avec l'aquarelle (ça m'aide), le but étant de ne se mettre aucune pression dessus. Donc voici quelques chardons avec un papillon qui butine.
Je me dis après coup que je n'aurai pas dû retracer aussi net le papillon, mais le but, c'est de ne pas pouvoir revenir en arrière et accepter que c'est très bien comme ça.

Très chouette visite que celle du Urquhart Castle (compris dans le pass Explorer) qui se trouve au bord du Loch Ness. On n'y parle pas du tout de Nessie mais plutôt de son histoire à lui, de fond en comble, vu qu'il a connu bon nombre de péripéties. Les enfants ont même eu droit à un questionnaire en français pour parcourir le château avec un sticker à la clé. Sympa pour dynamiser leur envie d'apprendre.

Dans les bons plans gratuits en Écosse, on peut visiter beaucoup de vestiges de la préhistoire, dont ce cercle de pierres aka le Temple Wood Circle Stone, qui a servi sur au moins un millénaire (bien que pour différents usages et on ne les connaît pas tous. Il reste encore 13 pierres sur les 22 ou 23 d'origine, pas mal !
