I know that #HellMode #HellSchreiber #FeldHell is meant to be printed on a linear strip of paper

But in software receivers, they obviously adapt to 2-dimensional screens, writing the received signal in text lines

Are there typical values of how long (in seconds) such a text line is written, that a sender could try to place gaps in his message? To minimize characters beeing broken between end of one line and start of next line

Hey @loriemerson, any chance you know Neoklis 5B4AZ? I'm a #hellschreiber fan too, but this guy takes the cake. Compiled his own firmware with custom hell glyphs. This is back from two years ago, I think.

Last night I witnessed the HELL mode of communication being used by the pro-Ukraine satellite pirates on 245 MHz. The words read better when the waterfall scrolls up the page, so flipping the image makes it more readable! There was a variety of English and Cyrillic messages which were anti-Putin in nature.

Had a properly successful session on the EU feld hell net this week with the #Meccano #hellschreiber
My new tone generator circuit using the VCO of a 74HC7046 makes a much better signal than my original, largely unfiltered, 555 oscillator lashup, and the group commented how my characters look much better now that I've stretched my pulses a little.

Alas new problems are appearing as the machine starts to wear out from too much use! 😆
The elastic is getting very soft so keys are not always returning properly, and the ever present character drum corrosion issue has been joined by "kapton tape starting to fall off itis".
I was expecting that from the very beginning though, and surprised it held up as well as it has. A few repair patches made with nail varnish last week seem to be working OK, so I will probably go through and use that everywhere bits are starting to peel/falling off.
