Great now my #Kitchen #faucet needs to be replaced, my kitchen sink faucet has had a slow leak for longer than I can remember, but I was always able to find a way to shut it off, the last week not so lucky, have to keep a dish rag wrapped around it, its just enough to make the rag damp in a day, it has been slowly developing an internal leak, and it is now progressively worse, there goes another $125 I don't actually have, and since I don't have a tub, and I drink tap water all day long I really to to fix this, not to mention I have no idea how I will actually replace it, and before anyone asks, yes it is my responsibility to either replace and repair it myself or pay to have it done, that is no happening paying to replace it myself is more than I can afford, no way to pay someone, not looking forward to it but it has to be done, I have a new one ordered sometime this week it will be here, im not looking forward to changing it, the space I have to work in is could barely hold a dell inspiron 530, actually I don't think it would fit at all, I have to take off the garbage disposal first, and then unhook the water lines and then play find the nut that holds the faucet to the sink, all one handed and without any visual ability to see, I cook and clean using it, I need it, still have no clue what I will actually do for #food this month, O yea the hell keeps getting deeper for this #disabled man existing in #poverty;

Not having a great morning here. Had no hot water last night, and this morning when I checked, the water heater is leaking all over the laundry room floor. Also, the water shutoff valve is frozen open, and the fastest plumber appointment we have found yet is Friday. Small-town living is sometimes a pain. Also home ownership.

I spent much of the day waiting for a drywall contractor to show up at the house for a small repair job. When he showed up 2.5 hours after he was due here, he did the job and then charged me $105 more than the agreed amount cuz he said he had to buy a couple of extra supplies. I paid him. The job is done but I wish he had told me of the extra cost as it happened. Working with contractors is never easy. At least he did show up and job is done. But I still feel ticked off about it.

Not my finest glazing putty work, but it looks like it has a nice seal edge and has adhered to the glass and frame. I’ll take it as a small win in a challenging time.
Here’s hoping it skins over enough before the rains arrive. My senses tell me that will be sometime tonight.

On the list of tasks today is to try to color match the paint on our walls. I’m not terribly optimistic.
There is such a disparity of hues just by the amount of ambient light. I can capture the same wall, 10 minutes later and have wholly different results. Same, too, for which section of the wall I capture.

Got the leaking sillcock replaced!
The days are getting shorter and colder. Had to make sure I got it replaced before freezing temps showed up.
Apparently the outside foundation is much lower than the floor inside so my measurements were a bit off at first. Nailed it the second time. 😂
Just have to mud tape and spackle the inside and then spray the outside with some foam insulation!

Always, and I mean always, get multiple quotes from people when you're working on stuff around your home. My boiler is having issues since it's ~20ish years old.
First estimate to make some repairs: $2,600
Second estimate: $2,200 with a little less work/parts

Today I had adventures in #HomeRepairs - it began to “rain” in my basement studio. #DuctTape was involved as a temporary field repair. In removing the sodden particle board I’ve improved access to services so crushing the drain hose is less likely in the future. Did not need a plumber, so it is a win.

The wind knocked down the closed umbrella (that's in a weighted base) in my backyard overnight and knocked it down again when I went out to return it to upright.
So, I'm not going to put it up again until the wind dies down.
Unfortunately, the fall broke the plastic finial at the top. It's fixable w/a dowel & some glue which will probably cost me more in time than just buying another one would. 🤷♂️

In anticipation of serious winter weather, I finally focused on fixing our gas log fireplace. The pilot flame sensor was dirty. A little rubbing with an old tooth brush, and we're up and running again!

Right before leaving for our vacation, I tried to run a load of dishes, but the dishwasher errored out. Since there wasn’t time to fix it before we left, I just left myself a note to fix it when I got back. The filter isn’t super accessible, so I used a waterpik to spray the sediment out. The joys of an old house.
