So the big corporations are all battening down the hatches. The walled gardens are becoming citadels, with training data forbidden from crossing the citadel walls.
Reddit have done a google-exclusive, Facebook have always had their walls as a feature even as they hate "friends only" posts really, Twitter closed down API access earlier in the year. You can't even view a user's timeline without a login now.
This means that the AI bots from each corporation in the future will be trained only on the data from it's own users.
You can see this with Twitter's bot already, returning bullshit like them all but it's that particular Twitter flavour of bullshit. Apparently it's been telling people Kamala isn't eligible.
So the Linked-In-Bot will be trained on the wannabe business professionals trying to sound inspiring for CV points.
The Facebook bot will be all Gen-Xers updating boomers about their kids lives, plus the conspiracies those boomer parents most fall for as they age info fascism.
The Reddit bot may be helpful but it's a troll when cornered and quite rude.
Your near-future AI-ridden sci-fi stories should have all the platform-users turned into tribes lead by their own conspiracy-mad average hive-mind, and the wars of the future aren't between nations but between the new platform religions that are mutually forbidden to communicate even while they work in the same city.

CW: Meta/Instagram and obeying the EU DSA - the Meta way
Meta has recently announced (https://about.fb.com/news/2023/08/new-features-and-additional-transparency-measures-as-the-digital-services-act-comes-into-effect/) that they are going to follow the EU Digital Service Act that say they should not force users to use their "algorithm" for what is shown in the feed.
Meta talks about it like they are actually happy about the DSA, but you have to be dumb to believe that.
So what have they actually done?If you are one of the ignorant people still selling your soul to Meta via Instagram, you can not "opt out" of the algorithm - or sorf of can.
On the top left corner, hidden in the Instagram Logo, you're now able to switch to a 'Following' feed.
It's really well hidden, as this hidden "menu" has been there since 2022 to host the 'Favorites' section, which showed the users you've told the app you wanted to see more of.
Now it also includes the 'Following' tab as well.
So what does it do? Well it actually shows only posts from the people/companies you follow and show them sorted by "most recent". It all seems good, but guess what? It is not a persistent option, so you will have to select it every time you open the app.
It does work for reels/stories as well and seem to show a few less ads for some reason.So maybe Meta thinks that they now follow the DSA, but in reality they don't.
Everyone should really just get their ass off Instagram/Facebook and move to other platforms (Fediverse enabled ones like @pixelfed are highly recommended).

After pushing my #Mastodon Instance’s media into object storage, I shrank the server it runs on to 1CPU, 1Gig Ram, 25Gig storage for $5.00/mo. So far it's running fine. For less than cost of Twitter Blue, I can have my own mastodon server, on my own domain and own my own data.
PS I wonder if the tweet version of this post gets blocked.
