Then, how about promoting #openStandards for federated #instantMessaging, such as #RFC6120, instead of sth. in the #bigTech #walledGarden of #AWS?

"At @eff, we view #digitalSovereignty not as a #walledGarden, but as an opportunity for #resilience … We believe that governments … should take a role in crafting digital sovereignty that centers the #autonomy of users rather than just re-creating a state of digital dependency with a new set of companies. Governments should support and use #freeSoftware and #openSource tools and projects built using principles of #interoperability and #dataPortability."
Can't agree more…

"... From wherever you get your podcast" is such a comforting phrase.

Many people have moved off of X/twitter and the details of AMBER alerts can’t be read without having their app and having an account there. This doesn’t serve the public well, at least from the wireless alerts system. Increase access by using a vehicle for announcements that is open for all.

Signal dropping the #phoneNumber requirement, which never existed in the 27 years of #Jabber, is a step in the right direction. Congratulations!
It's still a centralized #walledGarden in the backyard of Jeff B. and there is still no native client for #Linux.
Which makes the #XMPP #slidge bridge (slidgnal) by @nicoco more interesting than ever.

Somebody™ (i.e. not me) really needs to package it for #Debian alongside the Matrix one (matridge).
