Storm Babet is an unusual weather system. Storms that hit the UK in the autumn and winter normally come from the west across the Atlantic, but Babet instead travelled from Portugal, picking up moisture from the Bay of Biscay before being trapped over the UK by a hard-to-budge high pressure system across Scandinavia.

We live in #Brechin, which has been severely affected by Storm #Babet, though we are fortunate enough to live on a hill and not near the river. We did go and deliver supplies to the school today, where those evacuated from their homes have been put up.
