I updated my post from yesterday on @sternaparadisaea.net with a very brief overview of some of the damage caused by the #StormSurge and how to think about these extreme weather events in the future.

Also, following a question I've added a bit of background as to why we would expect to see more hundred year floods, even if an individual flood is not "caused by" #ClimateChange (though it may well be somehow supercharged by it).

If the @dmidk model prognosis is correct the water level should start to fall, and surprisingly quickly from here onwards for the rest of the evening... 🫣

Oof, this one doesn't sound good. A temporary dike has broken in Aabenraa harbour and all residents in the nearby area need to evacuate to Folkehjemmet. Sirens have been sounded in the area as a warning apparently.

So, the water in the harbour has risen so high it's broken the measurement devices in at least 2 harbours, or at least so reports @dmidk ...

Seems like parts of SE Jutland particularly badly affected by today's #StormSurge which has now reached 100 year levels in several towns where measurements go back at least a hundred years.
