"People wearing a mask during protests in #NorthCarolina could face extra penalties if arrested, under proposed legislation that critics say could make it illegal to wear a mask in public as a way to protect against #COVID19 or for other health reasons.

"Republicans supporters say the legislation, which passed its first committee Tuesday, was prompted in part by the recent wave of #protests on universities nationwide — including at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill — against Israel’s war in #Gaza.

"GOP Sen. Buck Newton brushed off concerns that getting rid of #pandemic-era exemptions on masks was overly broad, saying he expects authorities to use 'good common sense.'

"'We didn’t see Granny getting arrested in the Walmart pre-COVID,' Newton said as he presented the bill Tuesday in the state Senate Judiciary Committee.

"While the main thrust of the bill enhances penalties for people wearing a mask during a crime or intentionally blocking traffic during #protests, most concerns centered on the health and safety exemption. Check this canadian interview with a Mount Sinai (NY) chronic disease specialist. Up to one in five people with COVID-19 develop LONG COVID, meaning three months after having the disease they still do not recover their full abilities.

The specialist affirms that each reinfection, even moderate, of COVID-19 subtracts between 2-6% of IQ.

LONG COVID is a disease that causes systemic damage, especially to the immune system, causing T-cell exhaustion and triggering latent diseases or exposing the body to new pathogens from which it would have been able to defend itself before. Worth a listen:

For a 10mm beard, an N95 is still more effective than all other masks.

If the stifling feeling is specifically associated with headstraps for you, they could be too tight. Aura 3M has simple band elastic straps that lengthen with a good hard tug. This is a pro in this situation for you.

For straps that don't lengthen so easily, consider an #N95 with braided elastic such as Vitacore's #Can99.

Vitacore's Can99 also has superb breathability so if the problem isn't the attachments, this might help.

I was inspired by The Disabled Ginger’s post of Violet Affleck (masked) working with her parents (unmasked) to serve thanksgiving, while wearing other public health precautions (hair nets).
