I was happy to receive the info for volunteering to help with making/putting together free Christmas hampers for community members, last night. It's going to be a #CovidSafe #Masked 2 day gathering of volunteers 😷
My family doesn't celebrate Christmas. We volunteer around the community over the holiday months instead.

When #parents won't #MaskUp - they teach their #children to not be safe with their #health too. They also teach their kids to not care about others in the community. I'm blown away by how many parents are OK with exposing themselves & their kids to several preventable, airborne illnesses, including covid. They're risking death & disabilities on themselves & their kids.

Our #PublicHealth system is already overburdened & understaffed. We have many former health care workers with long covid & they never returned to work. We are nowhere near prepared to deal with many future cases of long covid & the 2ndary illnesses & disabilities that more people will suffer from - because they aren't being #CovidSafe.

Our government & mainstream media has stopped reporting facts on covid & on long covid. They want the public to forget about it. Which means dismissing the lives of disabled people like me & many others, who are still being covid safe.

Today we went to the Biennale #Images #Vevey, which normally is a pretty #COVIDSafe art show, because lots of the works are shown outside in parks or on buildings. The art was not so exciting this year. But then on the way out we came across the funkiest old woman ever, dressed in colorful clothes in wild combination with some cyborg elements. And now we think that it was Geraldine Chaplin.

A new role model for growing old.

We will have someone teaching #knitting for beginners and if you’re already a pro bring whatever #crafty project you’re working on and chat with some new pals!

This event is a collaboration between #Mask4MaskVictoria and our community group.

Event Details
What: A #FREEevent to learn how to knit or work on a current project!
Where: Redfern Park (Leighton Rd, Victoria, BC V8R4W7 - near save on foods)
When: Sunday, September 15 from 2-4pm

We will be providing some needles and yarn for the people learning but if you have some extras to spare please bring them!

✨ Please wear a Kn95/94 mask or better (I will provide a mask if you don’t have one!)
✨ Test before you arrive at the park
✨ This event is for people who take
everyday covid precautions and mask in public
