Η πρόσφατη ευθεία στρατιωτική επίθεση στο Ιράν αποδεικνύει πως η ηγεσία του Ισραήλ είναι πλέον έτοιμη να πυροδοτήσει μια ανεξέλεγκτη περιφερειακή ανάφλεξη, μετατρέποντας τον διαρκή πόλεμο σε αυτοσκοπό και μοναδικό όρο επιβίωσης του καθεστώτος.

Υπό αυτό το πρίσμα, ο δίσκος «Hail the New Regime» του 1997 αποβάλλει οριστικά τον μανδύα της υποκουλτούρας και της νεανικής υπερβολής. Το εξώφυλλο με τον Νετανιάχου και το περίστροφο δεν ήταν παρά η ψυχρή, ακριβής διάγνωση για μια χώρα που ετοιμαζόταν να ενσωματώσει τον μιλιταρισμό ως τη μόνη θεσμική της πραγματικότητα. Σήμερα, με τη Γάζα ισοπεδωμένη και το Ισραήλ να διοικείται από τους πιο σκληρούς εκφραστές του ρεβιζιονιστικού σιωνισμού, το δόγμα του Μπεντζιόν Νετανιάχου για επιβίωση αποκλειστικά μέσω της αδιαπραγμάτευτης βίας έχει βρει την απόλυτη εφαρμογή του. Η ιδεολογική ρήξη του ’90 ολοκληρώθηκε με την πλήρη επικράτηση της συντήρησης. Το ισραηλινό κράτος έχει μετατρέψει τον αυταρχισμό στην απόλυτη εθνική του ταυτότητα. Εκείνο που οι «Σακάτηδες της Χλεύης» ούρλιαζαν ως δυστοπική προειδοποίηση από το περιθώριο, σήμερα αποτελεί την επίσημη επιλογή μιας ολόκληρης κοινωνίας.
