I've always thought Alan Ford comics were unfilmable, untranslatable into any other medium, let alone film or TV..... until I watched It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
If someone is going to do it, it should be inspired by that with a dash of Apple's Slow Horses. It's a silly, long running comicbook that has some timeless themes explored by a group of swindlers and idiots.

A forklift tilted a box of freshly picked Pinot Noir grapes toward Nakamura, who raked them onto a conveyor belt, which m
Blessed Lord of the wide seas
That crash upon the rocks
Or flow calmly onto the beaches
Where we seek refuge from care
Or set off to work upon ships
Holy are you as is the sea
That great cradle of life
Living in the darkness of the depths
Or in the sunny shallows
Forming part of the circle of life
Blessed are we to know you
And more blessed still to those who rely on your gifts
O Poseidon of the depths
King of the flowing world
We thank you for your kindness
Just as we fear your anger
That brings the hurricane
Poseidon we pray
In utmost gratitude
And to assure ourselves
That you stand with us
Who walk upon the Earth

Sunny days and clear nights expected through the next 7 days. Daytime highs in the 70s to around 80. Overnight lows in the 40s to lower 50s.
After an absurdly dry and sunny October*, it's raining. The pitter patter of comfort and joy is most welcome.
Planned a soup today in celebration.
*I know how gorgeous a chilly, sunny fall day is in our area, but balance. We're a temperate wet area where rain gear is required, not a January desert.

There were some probs with "1984" -- Orwell was engaged in dying, it didn't make for a sunny outlook; also some time pressure there.
The Thought Police needed a helicopter to see in your windows; everyone didn't carry a device that can expose everything your mind wants to engage with; the proles indeed wouldn't be so contented & clueless (not all of them) ...
I used to think, "They had nothing to make you see what isn't there"
Oh that problem's overcome now.
But people at last would think, "Really life's hard enough, why will we make an effort to bring children into this wretchedness & slavery?"
...Seems to be happening?
A form of words you used to hear around East San Jose:
"This shit can no longer be going on"
Cloches aren't just for spring! Use them in autumn/winter to buffer freeze-thaw cycles on young winter greens (spinach, mâche, winter gem), shield overwintering brassicas & fava beans from desiccation, and keep soil workable over carrots.
Ventilate on sunny days to stop fungal rot. ❄️🌱

☀️ High pressure will bring a sunny, dry weekend to northern Maine, with temperatures gradually warming.
𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲: Sunny and cool, highs in the middle 40s. North winds 7–10 mph. Clear overnight, lows in the middle 20s.
𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲: Sunny and milder, highs in the lower 50s. Light northwest winds. Clear overnight, lows in the upper 20s.
𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲: Sunny and noticeably warmer, highs in the lower 60s. Southwest winds 2–9 mph. Partly cloudy overnight, lows in the lower 40s. A 20% chance of showers develops near dawn Monday.
Sheltered valleys may experience locally colder temperatures Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday offers particularly favorable weather for outdoor plans.
Good morning, Mastodon friends! And we continue with the unseasonably warm and sunny weather. In fact, the first time daytime rain is forecast is Saturday -- just in time for the Homecoming football game and little kids trick-or-treating. 😢
The stroopwafels that I included in our grocery order yesterday are good, but not as special a treat as I'd hoped. They are more cinnamon-y than caramel-y. However, my husband and I are glad to have tried something new.
I hope this toot goes through. My instance seems to be very slow this morning.
Have a safe, good day, all; never give up; and if you voted already, THANK YOU!
Good morning, Mastodon friends! And indeed it is another *good* morning -- sunny and temp already in the 50s F.
Today I'm donating to two legal organizations that fight the Trump administration's assault on free and fair elections. I'll put details in a separate political toot.
Today's agenda includes an Aldi pickup and the weekly Zoom call with my sister. I put stroopwafels on the Aldi order. The small chance that my husband and I will move to the Netherlands if the U.S. situation becomes more awful inspired me to try a new treat. I hope they're in stock.
Have a safe, good day, all; never give up; and if you already voted, thank you!
i have seen the iPhone duo.
first, the bad: it's a deeply weird device. it's noticeably smaller than the iPad mini. the under-display camera is extremely noticeable in glare conditions (plentiful at the very glassy downtown brooklyn apple store on a sunny day); it's a little circle of gloss on surface of matte. matte visually hides the crease, except at an angle, and it's definitely tangible. the software (iOS 27.1) is incredibly glitchy. rotation bugs, blinking UI elements, etc.
Sometimes, when the moon is right, and my door is open to let in the night, I can hear the coyotes howl. And their wilderness wakes my own.

Twisted Summit is out!
Twisted Summit is my first novel-length book and the second installment of the Heaven Reaches Out series. It follows the story of Ina, in the middle of grieving her sister, still trying to find her, as she and her constant companion Lara attempt to understand a strange book that appeared in their school's library. It is by chasing these threads that Ina returns to the conclusion she always, always reaches:
Everything is connected.

wiki:library-scope
https://musicgames.wikidot.com/wiki:library-scope
"Library scope" -- a proper article today, that describes what kind of "music games" we are looking for. Main points for G4M are:
- agency of players over the sound result,
- "in real life" component.
The term "music game" is fuzzy and broad, and includes screen-based experiences, silent theoretical education, on-stage productions, etc. Our #wiki keeps an eye on those too, but the "participatory live rule-based improvisation" is more of the focus.
A high aim is to welcome the broadest understanding of "music" in all of this. Classical, punk, folk, pop, noise... no single approach should rule over others.
Naomi Kanakia - Just Happy to Be Here
Enjoyable, unpredictable genre-mix of contemporary queer/trans coming-of-age plus classic elite school story. Money, power, tradition and politics in play. Friendship grows among the misfits.

This definitely wasn't a master plan for an entertaining movie — full of stupid tech, unbelievable logic, and a cast of characters that just didn't interest you in the least.

This time I had to chose fungi for my nature theme. Baker's yeast makes fine dough, and also beer and wine. There are a few sketched yeast cells in the frame. I dared to tackle hands.

Wo #Barrierefreiheit fehlt, muss eine Alternative her.
