США заохочували колишнього Орбана взяти участь у виборах, навіть запропонувавши йому цю ідею першими. Зараз план очікує на остаточне рішення.
Представник Державного департаменту уряд Трампа визнає, що на перший погляд це звучить божевільно. Однак, судячи з попередніх переговорів із Вашингтоном, Росія та Китай, як вважається, підтримують цю ідею. А сам план полягає в тому, щоб Орбан став їхнім спільним кандидатом. Як повідомили виданню чиновники зі США та ще однієї країни, коли Сполучені Штати, Росія та Китай прагнуть одного й того ж у Раді Безпеки ООН, вони зазвичай досягають свого.
Представник Державного департаменту нарахував вісім голосів у Раді Безпеки, які «без проблем» підтримають Орбана, та ще 10 із 15 членів Ради, які можуть приєднатися до них. Чи стануть тоді Велика Британія та Франція на заваді більшості? Ці дві країни зазвичай обережно ставляться до використання права вето.
Призначений Орбаном президент Угорщини заборонив йому повертатися до влади
Під час обговорення американськими чиновниками того, кого б вони хотіли бачити на чолі ООН, ім’я Орбана постійно спливало. Зокрема, чиновники США головорили «хтось на кшталт Орбана», а китайські та російські колеги погоджувалися. Зрештою американські чиновники задали собі питання: а чому б і ні?
Для висунення такої кандидатури, як зазначають у виданні, є чимало причин. Наприклад, Орбан виступатиме захисником Владіміра Путіна та інших диктаторів. За словами одного з чиновників США, експрем’єр Угорщини є «мрією для консерваторів-прихильників MAGA».
Це значною мірою пов’язано з його діями проти масової міграції, ліберальних неурядових організацій та угорських судів і преси, що дотримуються лівих поглядів. Орбан часто вступав у конфлікти з Європейським Союзом, водночас отримуючи від нього субсидії. Причому прокитайська орієнтація експрем’єра Угорщини якимось чином ніколи не шкодила його іміджу захисника західної цивілізації.
Трамп підтримав Орбана на квітневих виборах в Угорщині, а віцепрезидент Джей Ді Венс проводив передвиборчу кампанію на його користь. Якщо експрем’єр Угорщини висуне свою кандидатуру на посаду в ООН, очікується, що вони знову його підтримають. Щоправда, за словами третього джерела, обізнаного з процесом, з оголошенням чекають до завершення проміжних …
