And what if one of the kids is diabetic and has a bloodsugar emergency and life-or-death-NEEDS that snack! (Which for me, would also mean that in my hypoglycemic cognitive impairment and emotional dysregulation, I'd have a really hard time asking for help!)
(Sorry for the drama, but 30% of the children born in the Us today are going to be diabetic, so, maybe everyone should learn about it)

It's the last couple months of the grant and I'm just starting to help the Street Outreach team (from Cooperation Humboldt) before it ends. It looks like we will be able to move a dozen or 2 people who've been houseless for a long time into permanent housing! I'm new but it's such an honor to help with the great work this team is doing!

I'm Will, I'm always hungry, i sing bass, I'm a big (cishetwm) sissy, y yo quiero apprendar Español. I got a studio art BA, from HSU, (far north California) which included a lot of different types of creative projects, activism, and problems with my (T1D) diabetes. I quickly realized that i had no idea how to use any of that to survive, and began working with children, construction, event staffing, etc.

I'm glad i hadn't used up the 4 free articles per month that Forbes allows- not only did i appreciate your article but I'm also happy i could (hopefully) have a beneficial impact on your tally. @ricardoharvin that sounds so scary and frustrating- i can't even imagine! I'm a big believer, also, in writing/ other creativity as a way to survive- especially when things are hard. I joke that I'm addicted to escapism, but if the pain is too much, how else can we function?

The electricity to the whole county came back on last night. I do like candle time, but the free dinner for house-less people tonight will be much easier (at the D st community center, thankyou to the wonderful Arcata Playhouse!)
The main 6.4 quake was the night before last. I've been through earthquakes all my life, and this somehow felt bigger than any of the other 6s and 7s. Maybe that's because it was mostly an "S wave" not a "P wave"? #ArcataPlayhouse #Humboldt

@ladymondegreen is that you who is #t1d or your child? (My #diab-nosis year was 1985 at 9yrs old). I'm up north in #humboldtcounty and we have a diabetes support group zoom (folks from different parts of CA) if you're ever interested. It's very casual, but it was started by diab coaches from the #StanfordEcho diabetes project. Anyway best of luck!

I guess the invasive "Himalaya" blackberry often has 3,5, or 7 leaves in each cluster, whereas the one that's native to California has 3 leaves per cluster.
So the saying we were taught about poison oak- "leaves of 3, let it be"- actually applies but for a different reason. With poison oak it means don't touch. With the native blackberry, the point is don't hurt it.It's not endangered, but I say let's hope the native plants can prosper! #NativePlants on #Wiyot land

Can anyone please recommend a browser "drawing app" that's creative commons (or at least free but not spamware)?Sorta like an alternative toGoogle jamboard. I'm trying to work on some collaborative design/ art with some (homeless) folks who only have phones, and can't install anything.
