Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law on this day in 1990 it is 36 years old to today.

Today many disabled people look at the Americans with Disabilities Act as a great first step and a stepping stone and believe we could do better by our Americans leaving with disabilities. And we could stand to do better.

#Children have borne the brunt of the #infections, making up >70% of confirmed cases. >80 children & adolescents have been hospitalized this year for complications like #pneumonia, which leaves patients gasping for air, & #brain swelling, which can cause lasting damage, including #blindness, #deafness & intellectual #disabilities. (There are NO treatments for #measles, though researchers are trying to develop them.)

- #Accessibility: Everyone can enjoy a sensory garden. 'Equally, people with #disabilities can benefit from a range of sensory opportunities,' says Rebecca Lane, arboretum supervisor at #KewGardens. 'Visually impaired people, for example, can explore through touch, smell, and sound.' People with hearing impairments can enjoy the space through touch, smell, and taste.
- Mindfulness: The elements of a sensory garden help people practice the principles of mindfulness. 'The sense of touch sends a signal to the brain and nervous system, and we focus on feeling,' says Langelo. 'We start feeling in the present. We focus on a particular plant, and that becomes our world at present. This is mindfulness. It is a state of being present.'
