    Amplifying Indigenous Stories

"This Reciprocity Project is a short film series made in partnership with Indigenous storytellers and their communities that invites learning from time honored and current Indigenous ways of being.

"In recent years, the Reciprocity Project has been heavily featured in DCEFF's shorts programming. Led by Indigenous filmmakers, the first season of this initiative featured stories about land defenders, traditional knowledge, and sustainability. Those films are now free to stream online."

  3. Cowboys of the Matador Ranch listening to the “Pitchfork Kid” Billy Partlow (standing in center), famous for his story telling

The photograph is by Erwin E. Smith (1886–1947), known for his Cowboy photography

Smith attended two of art schools to study sculpture and painting, but eventually chose photography as his way to preserve a record of the cowboy life. Between 1905 and 1912, he worked alongside these men on ranches in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, while recording their lives.

The 2nd and third photos are Billy Parlow and Smith himself alongside their horses
