    Hohe Temperaturen können die Wirkung von Medikamenten beeinflussen. Vermehrtes Schwitzen verändert den Flüssigkeits- und Elektrolythaushalt des Organismus. Wirkstoffe verbleiben dadurch kürzer oder aber auch länger im Körper und werden zum Teil anders verstoffwechselt.
    Damit ein Medikament seine gewünschte Wirkung entfalten kann, müssen die Rahmenbedingungen passen. Doch bei Temperaturen über 30 Grad Celsius ändert sich so einiges im Körper: Um Hitze besser abgeben zu können, werden die Blutgefäße in den Armen und Beinen weit gestellt, wodurch der Blutdruck sinken kann. Durch vermehrtes Schwitzen verliert der Körper auch viel Flüssigkeit – bis zu zwei Liter mehr am Tag als sonst – und mit dem Schweiß gehen wichtige Mineralstoffe, sogenannte Elektrolyte, verloren.
