  6. CW: Type 1 diabetes

Turns out if your insulin pump expires overnight and you don't get up to put on a new one, you get a very clear reminder how how much you rely upon an artificial pancreas!
    I went from 6.1 mmol/L on a gradual rise to 8.6 mmol/L.

  7. I got a T:Slim X2 last week, then found out the app isn't available in Canada, plus the 'Upload Pump' in Tandem Source doesn't work with Linux. Had my first consult, "Uhhh, I can't get the data off my pump." "Well sucks to be you dude." (she didn't say that, not exactly anyway)

Sooo, I did a lot of googling figuring someone must have a solution. Nope, or I couldn't find one. I figured it out though. On the command line use:

    sudo chown <username>:<group name, often 'dialout'> /dev/ttyACM0
    chmod 664 /dev/ttyACM0

after connecting the pump but before clicking on 'Upload Pump' seem to make it work on Google Chrome, on Linux Mint! Yay! You'll have to do this every time after connecting the pump though.

I know this is likely obvious to most Linux users here, but it wasn't to me. If any other Linux users here have been banging their heads trying to get a connection, try these commands before you try something horrible like using Windows or MacOS.

  11. Just got my lab work back from the vampire visit last week. My A1C went up a bit, but it’s still under 7. It’s stayed under 7 for the last 3 years, because of the OP5 insulin pump fitting into my lifestyle perfectly. #T1D #InsulinPump #OmniPod5

  12. Hey mastodon, any #T1D #diabetic folks on here? Let's connect and support each other!

Me? I was diagnosed type 2 in March of '21 at 38. After an initial period of success, I couldn't control my glucose levels. I was then rediagnosed as #type1 this past June.

When I started on #insulin, I saw results overnight. I got on a #CGM the next week, and finally about a week ago started on an #insulinPump. Today, I'm setting up #DIYLoop and constantly amazed at how unpredictable #diabetes can be!

  13. Hm, sender seems to be working fine, yet the receiving end acts as if nothing was reaching it... So either it's transmission issue somewhere along the way, or something is wrong at the receiving end, I guess it would be with processing...
Oh, it's just me dealing with #diabetes and figuring out whether it's my #InsulinPump that's the issue, the infusion site, or whether for whatever reason my body decided to forget what it should do with the #insulin.

  14. A quick #introduction!

I’m Natalie and I’m a #queer and #neurodiverse cyborg who lives in #Delaware. I'm currently looking for work as a #dataAnalyst, so hit me up if you know of anything that you think might be in my bailiwick.

    I survived #necrotizingPancreatitis in 2018 and have complications, including #t3c #diabetes. I love my #insulinPump.

    I’m also a #knitter, #watercolorist, and I’ve lost the #hugoAward twice. I read a lot of #SFF.

  23. I've got some air travel coming up, and this will be my first time flying since I started using a #Tandem #InsulinPump.

Wondering if anyone has tips for me, navigating TSA or even how many sets to pack, or good ideas for contingency while I'm away from home.

I plan to bring some Novolog pens for "backup" in case of a pump failure, but what else should I be bringing?
