Cameras on OnePlus 6T “work” very basically in #pmOS, but terribly. The exact same hardware works extremely well in #UbuntuTouch. I'm supportive of #pmOS and #Mobian but they really don't work as well as #UbuntuTouch on OP6T. I patiently await improvement before I'll be ready to switch fully.

Apart from supported devices, what are the deciding factors to choose between @mobian and @postmarketOS ?
Building for Mobian is easy in docker (we use https://tangled.org/me.webbeef.org/beaver/blob/main/support/docker/Dockerfile.arm64), not sure if pmbootstrap is also usable in CI? Ideally we would create updatable images with cage (https://github.com/cage-kiosk/cage) as the wayland compositor and Beaver as the user environment.

It works really well on a #op6 with #mobian and it has been really useful for my train trips in Germany.
It's been years since I had come to Germany. So I installed it again and got to see and compare the improvements after a long time. And wow, there were a lot of improvements.

Ich habe die Woche etwas herumgespielt mit #MeshCore. Als App bietet sich Meshy an, welche gerade sehr aktiv entwickelt wird. In Kombination mit dem Tracker Sensecap T1000-E und meinem Linuxphone #OP6 mit #Mobian und #Phosh funktioniert das richtig gut.

"Works on any device".Amazing not only will it work on my PinePhone running mobian but even better it will work on my primary phone, a dumbphone with RAM counted in megabytes.
I am also looking forward to trying to use it on my Iyonix. Although I might need to upgrade to a later version of RISC OS.
At least I will not have to buy an Android or Apple device ever again.

How good is the PineTab2? I've been reading up a little on the Pine64 forums. I have had a PinePhone for a few years now so I have some experience with Pine64 devices.
From what I can gather, for the default OS there have been issues with Bluetooth and Wifi. How stable/usable is the default OS?
I am interested in using mobian/Phosh on the device as that is what I am most familiar with.
Are there any particular gotchas with mobian on the PineTab2?

@fbinin I'd say it's worth flashing it just to get a sense of how the interface itself works and to experiment before actually buying a new device. (Also, there's a chance that someone will figure out the drivers for it later and then you can use it: my camera started working a bit only a few months after I'd set up #Mobian on my #PocoF1)
Long term, a secondhand Poco F1 would be good for a cheap option but if you're serious about it I'd recommend investing in the #FLX1 by @furilabs

How hard would it be to adapt an SD card to fit into an eMMC?
+ both use the same protocol
+ would make life easier for users who don't have microSD slots on their phones, #postmarketos / #mobian / #chrultrabook developers and those who wish to change OS without reflashing
- high-capacity cards, like the 500GB one in my illustration, would probably confuse the bootloaders of most devices
- slight concerns about signal integrity
Same goes for actively adapting SATA/NVME to UFS.
Not an electronics engineer, just some guy with a dream and a crude drawing.

@Pavel Machek has rebased his #libcamera AutoFocus experimental branch above mainline v0.7.0 tag during @okias organized 6th #MobileLinux Hackday yesterday (thanks to #SUSE for hosting), and I have built it on my #oneplus6 #Qualcomm #sdm845 phone running my build of 6.19.0-rc4-next-20260106-sdm845-gdc7b19cffd9e kernel and #mobian. Then I have tested it with Pavel’s
mcamand, probably the first time ever, with Gnome/Phoshsnapshotapplication with a complete pipewire-libcamera stack. The simple SW AF prototype has been enabled by the addition of- Af:line into/usr/share/libcamera/ipa/simple/uncalibrated.yam. On the occasion, I had the chance to test the result to document an actual event: when the president of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, spoke at the #Ukraine Support meeting in #Prague Old Town Square today. The autofocus algorithm is quite unstable, periodically seeking a sharp image while the view is blurred in between. Same for the uncalibrated colors. But that could/should be solved in the longer perspective, see FOSDEM talk1 and talk2. But in general, the day when we can run at least older devices under real user control is yet closer. It depends now on @EUCommission whether the future is like 1984 or not for new devices. If it insists on Chat Control, which requires eliminating user control over what software runs on the device and supports rhetoric of sideloading for user control and even own builds of application installing, then the governments and corporations controlled botnet would be abused by mighty ones to control society as a whole. Back to today’s photos and the demonstration of goodwill to help the attacked neighborhood country to survive the imperial war. The original 1080p resolution photo with far focus is there and the short distance shot to the paper there. Both were taken by an IMX519 camera connected to MIPI C-phy. -

Only Airtel works well in some cities, with Vi, you can only send money by phone number, so no scan and pay. If many Vi users port to Airtel and tell them broken *99# as reason, they might fix it.
One way to support #FreeSoftware. Because UPI apps are one common reason people stick with #android or #ios. Working UPI would bring #mobian / #postmarketOS closer to mainstream.
If you dont have a specific reason to stick with Vi, I recommend you do it.
