We made a small project made by fellow new strangers and friends. It's more of an advocacy rather than a product.

CW: Job seeking again
Hello fedi.
Unemployed as of the moment.
I’m currently exploring Junior to Mid-level Software Engineering opportunities, ideally remote-first roles within the APAC region. I have experience working with Go, Rust, and Python in backend development.
Due to personal circumstances, I’m not able to do onsite roles at the moment, but I’m fully available and committed to remote collaboration. I’d really appreciate any leads, referrals, or advice. Thank you!

I posted another blog regarding the SCMSync or SCM or Git workflow. I'll just call it Git workflow in the future.
https://uncomfyhalomacro.pl/blog/202507192430
This post includes how I update the biome package. This post is easier to follow for those who are new to the workflow or about to get into when packaging in openSUSE. I do have a video before for updating harelang https://youtu.be/xuWjOK7X1SY but it is a 30 minute video so I prefer you read the post.

So I really took the time to perform packaging msedit for openSUSE:
- video https://youtu.be/NxN-JQkexb0
- the packaged editor https://github.com/microsoft/editI was drinking coffee and kind of full so you may hear my occasional "about to burp" moments.

CW: rant: i really dislike some corpos
i saw many job posts and i understand why filipinos are desperate looking for jobs but what's disgusting is some corpos really exploit filipinos because they're cheap "slave" labour. and another thing is the working hours, can you even imagine working at 9:30pm to 6am with a time tracker and without rotating shifts in UTC+8? i dont want to risk killing myself slowly through sleep deprivation.

sharing my thoughts of the git workflow in OpenBuildService:
https://uncomfyhalomacro.pl/blog/202505110154/honestly, i am more confused...
-
CW: package management in openSUSE
are there any good news for the git workflow for OpenBuildService? like docs and stuff? I have packages that I haven't updated for a long while because I am confused that it didn't work.

-
why do you use editorconfig? why not?
-
Harelang pre-release version 0.24.0 is now available in the openSUSE Factory repository in Open Build Service! 🥳
Expect newer snapshots will get the version soon!
Warning: riscV architecture is broken. I still don't know the cause yet but I will take a look next week (busy with personal stuff).

If this poll was on FB, Twitter, or IG.. i am pretty sure chromium based browsers win by default 🥴

anyone can share a #C programming book? or at least suggest materials?
thanks! it has dawn on me to at least have knowledge of this language.

Given I see a lot of #GiveupGithub, I have a feeling there is a lot of people that I know will move to either #sourcehut and #codeberg.
I will still use Github for work and to search for work because the world is that messed up. 🤷
For projects, I will start to move them unless it's not mine.
It would be funny projects that are part of companies will then file lawsuits for copyright violations and code stealing. Cha-ching 🤑 Not my problem 🥴
For #foss, use
#JoinSourceHut #JoinCodeBerg -
CW: rant; ph education
#nooneleftbehind here in the #philippines is for me, bad. students here are harder to teach every year because of the downward quality of intelligence. we spoonfed them that even cheaters who cheat cant cheat properly because the one they copied have a 90% of having the wrong answers. it's an exaggeration but it's no surprise we are the lowest in #southeastasia / #asean

CW: looking for a job
Hello #Fediverse.
I am looking for #EntryLevel roles for a #SoftwareEngineering or #InformationTechnology job.
I am familiar with Rust, Julia and Python. I am interested to learn more technologies like the #Cloud, #AWS, and #Databases.
My most notable open source experience are found on GitHub: https://github.com/uncomfyhalomacro/ such as OBS Service Cargo for #openbuildservice for #opensuse.

CW: looking for jobs
is it okay to ask to be #hired in the #fediverse?
i see #fedihired but im not sure if posting is a bad thing or not 🤔

CW: complaints and rants
filipino education is hellish in a sense, if you don't finish your masters, you will be underwaged and overworked or worse, unemployed...
tldr, i will be unemployed when school year 2024-2025 starts if I don't find a job soon before June ends 💀
I am looking for tech jobs along with a friend. and even we have a hard time looking for one as that is more competitive
im hoping i get lucky to find one since I still provide my older sister's med school allowance.

CW: finding a job
weird that they put an option "What country are you in?" but it has limited options to select what country... sigh. i just put hongkong since it has the same timezone as philippines
-
CW: scams in the ph
#philippine #simregistration is a flop. I still receive scam messages.
-
the only reason i use #foot over other terminals is because it respects #fontconfig. There maybe no #ligatures but I don't really need them.
-
CW: cant choose a font
im confused if i should choose the Aile or Etoile variant of Iosevka for writing. They both look good. Although, Etoile does hurt my eyes though. hm

being able to update a package by opening a submit request in #opensusebuildservice is one of the reasons why I like #opensuse. other distros such as #archlinux, you have to wait for the maintainer to update it themselves. good thing other distros such as #nixos and #voidlinux let's you open a PR on their github repos for their packages.

CW: crystal language
I will start adding some stuff on my branch project in #opensusebuildservice for crystal and putting my SRs once May starts. going to see if I am able to
-
CW: hmm rust eating memory
dunno but in #opensusebuildservice, i noticed that compiling rust projects uses a huge amount of memory that most of them, I have to add a _constraints file just to build them successfully on some architectures. :dragnsad:

is there a guide on how to follow proper #FediEtiquette like how not to make it a #twitter thing?
