I tested my #Librem 5 running #Crimson #PureOS the last days with #PureMaps turn by turn navigation in the car.

Note that due to a bug (for which a fix is in the pipeline) I had to enable manually gnss-share first:

sudo systemctl status gnss-share.service

After that PureMaps worked flawlessly for navigation up to speeds of 130 km/h.

Unfortunately, the voice instruction volume is a little to low for me though.

Am 30. Juni 2021 hat die Telekom #UMTS nach 17 Jahren Betrieb abgeschaltet. Mit #LTE und #5G gab es bessere Technologien.

Warum wird nun aber nicht #GSM beerdigt?

Weil sich die gesamte #Bevölkerung in #Deutschland damit "lautlos" #überwachen lässt.

Die hohe Integration technischer Bauteilen in Smartphones führt dazu das nur wenige Smartphones mechanische KillSwitches verwenden.

Eines davon ist das #Librem 5(https://www.notebookcheck.com/Librem-5-Das-Privacy-Smartphone-gibt-es-ab-sofort-zum-deutlich-guenstigeren-Preis.751031.0.html) dass natürlich nicht mit #Android ausgestattet ist. Jedoch ist das Librem 5 mit 999,-- Dollar recht teuer.

Alle mir bekannten #Mobilfunkmodems unterstützen GSM.

Kennt jemand ein 4G oder 5G Modem, dass kein GSM unterstützt?

Can somebody give me a damn #Linux phone with #openfirmware, #gnome or #plasma mobile, a decent camera, mic and screen with enough processing, memory and storage to meet with modern self hosting in mind.

Indeed, who can deliver me my dream phone? I'd be ever so happy to know about it.

@AnimeAndVisial well my #PocoF1 lasts about 8 hours per charge, so you shouod probably carry a power bank like I did. There are also some quirk peculiar to my phone like not being able to receive calls on suspend and no camera drivers, but if you get an actual designed-for-Linux phone like the #PinePhone or #Librem those are not issues (besides maybe the battery life)

If you don't need full mainline, @praveen can probably tell you more about the #Droidian based #FuriPhoneFLX1

@arstechnica although it's exciting to see #RISCV hitting the big time, the mention of #QualcommSnapDragon makes me worry it is likely to be so encumbered with proprietary SoC add-ons as to make the open nature of RISC-V moot.

Well, even if it is unlikely to benefit #purism #librem phones, maybe it will be of some benefit to #FairPhone?

This video by Louis Rossmann exposed @purism's bad customer support of a three year due refund and deceptive marketing about their #Librem5 phone being freedom respecting and secure when it actually isn't. In the video description there's also a link to a relevant HN thread. I wanna also add that the @fsf's #RYF program is garbage and should be reformed.
