The Technics stack is growing. After shuffling parts around between a couple of disfunctional CD players I've got one that's mostly ok, but a bit picky about what discs it'll play back happily.
The sweet spot seems to be commercial pressings from the early 2000s which I don't actually have many of, so I guess I'll need to hit some second hand shops soon, haha.
It may just need some tweaking of the many adjustment pots, but I'll save that for some time when I've got the oscilloscope out.

#gamedev #stereoscopic #bevy Instead of flying chaotically around more or less like gravitational bodies, lumps now organize themselves into huge semi-static structures. I've tuned it so that you can walk from one lump surface to the next. I have a bunch of climbing mechanics in the works.

Das hat auch die Tierärztin gemeint, als ich ihr vor zwei Wochen gesagt habe, dass er von Anfang Februar bis dahin, 500g an Gewicht verloren hatte. One antique chip posted from the UK, a small piece of tape, a tiny act of vandalism, and finally my Amiga has achieved a new level of hackery. One whole megabyte of chip RAM!
Just to stocktake here, what used to be a stock revision 5 Amiga 500 now has ...
- a 68010 CPU
- an upgraded Angus to support 1MB of chip RAM
- an 8 meg RAM expansion and IDE controller
- Kickstart 3.2 ROM
- a gotek floppy emulator
- 64GB SDD
- Compact Flash card readerIt's getting closer to done, I guess. Not much else to do without turning it into something completely different.

I wonder how long it will be before the free LLMs start polluting their results with adverts. Not just boxes to the side saying "Buy product X", but subtly massaged output to recommend product X as the answer to your question.
It's obviously coming. I'm a bit surprised we've not seen it yet, to be honest. (Unless we have, and it's so subtle I missed it.)
And what will people's response be when this starts happening? Will they revolt? Acquiesce? I truly have no idea.

I finished A Thing! A new power supply for my Amiga 500, but Mean Well did the hard part really. I probably spent the most time on picking out a fancy sleeve for the power cable so I didn't get have Another Black Wire on the desk.
Now comes the scary part where I actually plug it into an Amiga, even though I've checked the voltages are on the right pins many, many times.

The new Neal Morse Band album L.I.F.T arrived on Friday and I've been listening to it obsessively since then. No surprise that it's outstanding: to me, a big step up from Innocence and Danger back up to the level of Similitude and the Great Adventure. There's a unity and coherence to it that I love. And, needless to say, it's endlessly inventive and virtuosic.
