With the advent of a new Governor General, it's time to revive one of my longstanding policy proposals: the King should make the GG a dame, and she should offer to make all Companions and Officers of the #OrderOfCanada knights and dames.
It's good to have a system for the government to recognise Canadians who've dedicated themselves to the service of their country and community, but it would be better if the honour were more explicit than a pin and a post-nominal.

Earlier this week, Buffy Sainte-Marie returned her Order of Canada: “It was very lovely to host the medals for awhile, but I return them with a good heart,” she says.
She stated that she is an American Citizen, and has always "made it completely clear" to the federal government she was not Canadian.

Paul entered the field of #AsthmaResearch as a student of my Dad, Freddy Hargreave's, and continued on to become a valued colleague and a friend of his at the Firestone Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton and McMaster University.
