Quick follow-up for anyone doing a power steering fluid flush: don’t run the reservoir low. The pump gulps air fast, then you get foam and whining (cavitation). If it happens, stop and bleed it properly.

I knocked out a power steering fluid flush on the FJ and it was almost peaceful, right up until I realized I had nothing to cap the return port. Improvised. Spilled some. Learned a lot.

Back on track update: I’ve been heads down rebuilding the pipeline. Then Saturday night I got pulled over for an expired registration, which is a very efficient reminder that paperwork is part of maintenance.
