  1. I do enjoy Steven Hyden's perspectives on music. I saved this a long time ago and finally got to listening to it. Now I need to listen to all the other articles in the series. So very good. #MusicWriting

  3. New Journal entry is up: “Aggressive Kindness.”

It’s about growing up on Ramones, Rancid, Bad Religion, NOFX, Dropkick Murphys and realizing those records weren’t just noise, they were sneaking in lessons about community, mutual aid, and how to look out for each other on and off the floor.

If you ever memorized lyric sheets like scripture, this one’s for you.

    Read it here: adventureadjacent.com/2025/12/

Tell me which albums rewired your brain.

  4. In a world where the answer to the question “What do Led Zeppelin and Warrant have in common?” is “They both have songs where pastry stands in for the female genitalia,” the high-concept ambiguity of Annihilator’s “Knight Jumps Queen” is a welcome breath of fresh air.

  9. When Judas Priest wrote “Brain Dead,” they must have thought, “Well, our new lead singer is already ripping off our old lead singer, so we might as well halfheartedly rip another band off while we’re at it.”

  17. I can’t stop trying to figure out what it IS about the music I like. Why does A move me while B doesn’t? There’s most likely no pattern to be found, because I am not an algorithm. I am a human. And yet, I can’t stop picking at it like a scab, trying on various words and descriptions for size, walking around in them for a little while to see if they fit. (1/?)
